The purpose of this article and the special issue is to improve our understanding of the theoretical, managerial, and policy implications of entrepreneurial innovation. We accomplish this objective by examining the role of context in stimulating such activity, as well as its impact on the outcomes of entrepreneurial innovation. Our analysis begins by outlining an overarching framework for entrepreneurial innovation and context. With reference to this framework we then compare the attributes of national innovation systems, entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial innovation, and categorize contextual influences on entrepreneurial innovation. We then situate the papers presented in this special issue within this framework. We conclude by outlining an agenda for additional research on this topic, focusing on the relationships between contexts and entrepreneurial innovation and then discuss policy implications, focusing on how public and private actors can meet these challenges. 相似文献

Katniss Everdeen, the narrator and protagonist of Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games Trilogy, survives the grueling ordeal of forced participation in two games to the death through both physical prowess and mental agility. Both within and outside of the Games, she demonstrates information and media literacies. By becoming adept at interpreting and using information and the media, she not only survives, but also outwits the Gamemakers, undermines the power of the Capitol, and sparks a revolution. Collins’ novels thus reflect, model, and critique the information and media practices of the society in which Katniss lives—and, by extension, those of our own society. In addition, the books suggest that information and media literacies can be powerful tools of resistance for people oppressed by totalitarian governments. For Katniss, surviving the Games requires these literacies; at the same time, the Games themselves, and more broadly speaking the oppressive government of the Capitol, facilitate their development. 相似文献

It is not unusual to find elaborate schemes for compelling and assessing class participation. Although participation can take many forms, in practice it is most synonymous with discussion, which, at its core, is about student engagement. But with what should the students be engaged? When we make class participation a requirement and assess it, students must then produce evidence. But of what? Board of Education of the City of Meriden (1994) wherein the Supreme Court of Connecticut held that the state constitutional right to a free public education does not afford gifted children the right to special education. Broadley is the focal point because it can serve as the fulcrum in the on‐going national debate on the future of gifted education’. The personal–social responsibility model (RM), a physical activity program model orignally intended for for underserved, has been used in physical activity and other programs for a wide range of children and youth in a number of states and several other countries. While RM's presence in practice is generally acknowledged, some in the academic community have criticized its weak empirical base. We address this criticism by reviewing 26 studies that have investigated the impact of RM on underserved and/or at-risk youth since its inception. Because field research encompesses a wide array of approaches, issues related to design and methodology are explored in an effort to provide a rational basis for this work.
