Race and Genetics from a Modal Materialist Perspective

Prevailing idealist and materialist theories of rhetoric fail to account for the continual circulation and recirculation of “racism” as a scientific discourse. An alternative theory of modal materialism addresses this problem by suggesting that the properties of all being are constituted through three distinguishable forms of matter that include the “physical,” the “biological,” and the “symbolic.” A sufficiently lush and nimble conceptualization of human action requires consideration of the interaction of all three modes in theory and in practice. The theory of modal materialism is illustrated through a consideration of the discourse of race and genetics as it was recirculated and modified in 2005 and 2006 by publications in the journal Science, and which were amplified for a larger reading public through circulation in the New York Times.

国内外知识抽取研究进展综述

信息泛滥与知识贫乏的问题越来越突出,用基于NLP的技术从文献中抽取知识有望解决这一矛盾.首先对知识抽取的含义进行界定,接下来论述知识抽取的意义.通过对国内外知识抽取研究现状的分析,总结知识抽取的抽取对象、抽取模式.发现国内关于知识抽取研究差距较大,从文献中抽取知识并进行实验研究的还很少,有待重视.     

集成反应器中陶瓷膜微滤过程的强化研究

设计并加工了新型无机膜-光催化集成反应器。利用反冲技术对陶瓷膜分离回收TiO2超细粒子悬浆液的微滤过程进行了强化研究。考察了反冲压力、时间、周期对强化过程的影响,确定了合适的反冲条件;有无反冲条件下,考察了反冲过程的重复性。研究表明:采用这种方法明显地提高了渗透通量。     

大学英语阅读能力的培养

英语教学侧重培养学生的阅读能力,而阅读教学是培养学生阅读能力的主要途径。本文通过对英语阅读能力的分析及阅读教学中普遍存在的误区的剖析,详述语篇教学以及怎样实施语篇教学的步骤。在此基础上,阐述了提高阅读速度的方法和培养阅读能力的技巧。     

相关性研究探析

相关性是情报学尤其是信息检索研究中最基本的概念。本文总结了早期相关性研究所取得的主要进展,重点对近期相关性的理论研究(特别是相关性类型及其关系、相关性评价研究)和实证研究方面的研究成果进行评述。最后提出了作者对相关性的理解:相关性是一个不断发展的概念;它涉及以下5种类型的相关性:算法相关,主题相关(即主题性),需求相关(即针对性),情景相关,社会认知相关;不同的相关性类型对应着不同的研究阶段和研究范畴;相关性已经覆盖了情报学整个领域,成为联系情报学、图书馆学和其他相关学科的纽带和桥梁,是情报学的基本原理之一。

The International Society for Performance Improvement's journal Performance Improvement has invited readers to submit Human Performance Technology (HPT) tools for publication. These can include ready‐to‐use job aids or tools and templates used to facilitate gap analysis, process flow mapping, performance consulting, instructional design, e‐learning, on‐the‐job training, solution design, and performance measurement and evaluation, to name few. We're looking for a variety of instruments that are consistent with the principles of HPT, have broad appeal, and are applicable to a variety of workplace situations. In all cases, tools should focus on adding value to individual, team, or organizational performance. Our first submission is a Concept Map submitted by Aaron U. Bolin.
