Prior research has shown that tutored problem solving with intelligent software tutors is an effective instructional method,
and that worked examples are an effective complement to this kind of tutored problem solving. The work on the expertise reversal
effect suggests that it is desirable to tailor the fading of worked examples to individual students’ growing expertise levels.
One lab and one classroom experiment were conducted to investigate whether adaptively fading worked examples in a tutored
problem-solving environment can lead to higher learning gains. Both studies compared a standard Cognitive Tutor with two example-enhanced
versions, in which the fading of worked examples occurred either in a fixed manner or in a manner adaptive to individual students’
understanding of the examples. Both experiments provide evidence of improved learning results from adaptive fading over fixed
fading over problem solving. We discuss how to further optimize the fading procedure matching each individual student’s changing

Previous research has noted that the transition to primary school is important for future school success. As a result, an inclusive transition process to school has become increasingly important. However, this process is particularly difficult for socio-economically disadvantaged children in Germany. The study considers parents’ views and actions in their children’s transition, especially with regard to parent–professional cooperation. Over a period of 36 months (18 months before and 18 months after school entry), 89 qualitative interviews with parents were conducted. Although five of the 16 children were affected by selective mechanisms, all parents emphasised the importance of their child’s regular school entry and assumed active roles in their child’s education. Information and communications technologies (ICT) are becoming pervasive in the residential real-estate industry and their usage is affecting the work lives of real-estate agents. Drawing on data from a regional study of the residential real-estate industry in the United States, we focus on the disintermediation or, more accurately, the reintermediation of real-estate agents in the sales process. Using data collected from interviews, direct observation, and archival records, we examine how real-estate agents are (1) taking advantage of new ICT in their work, and (2) protecting themselves from others wishing to displace their position in the real-estate value chain. Our analysis of this activity draws on two contrasting theoretical perspectives to illuminate the roles of residential real-estate agents: transaction cost and social capital. The results of this study provide insights into the ways in which ICT are used to build and draw on the social relationships that underpin the actual transactions, to help guide the process of buying/selling a house, and to invoke expertise as needed. 相似文献

The present investigation concerned the development of the Primary Self-Concept Inventory (PSCI), a group-administered self-report self-concept inventory for children of ages 5 through 8. Replicated analysis of the factor structure of the PSCI data indicated that a seven-component pattern provides an appropriate fit. As a result of this analysis, seven subscales were formed. Acceptable test—retest reliability estimates were obtained for administrations separated by a 6-month interval. On the basis of these results, the PSCI was accepted as a research tool, and recommendations for further investigation of the inventory were made. 相似文献
