Maintaining Discipline in the Kaiser Wilhelm Society during the National Socialist Regime

In responding to incidents of internal ‘indiscipline’, the Kaiser Wilhelm Society many times asserted its authority, sometimes in cooperation with agencies of the Nazi regime. Following the Second World War, however, the KWS represented itself as having been intrinsically anti-Nazi. This essay describes the assumptions inherent in this view, and points to its wider implications for post-war German science.

《诗纬》考论

《诗纬》是形成于我国汉代的纬书的一种。《诗纬》中有关《诗经》的评论,其思想观点主要来自于《齐诗》翼奉一派,因而《诗纬》与《齐诗》在理论上有着渊源的关系。《诗纬》所提出的“四始”、“五际”,及“六情”说,以阴阳律历附会解释《诗经》的诗篇,其真实用意在于,揭示周王朝兴盛衰亡的历史发展过程,以此对当时的现实政治发生作用。《诗纬》中的诗论,如“诗者,天地之心”、“诗者持也”、“诗含五际六情”等论说,对汉魏六朝时期的诗论有着一定的影响。

The Model American Foundation Officer: Alan Gregg and the Rockefeller Foundation Medical Divisions

From 1919 to 1951, Alan Gregg and his mentor, Richard Pearce, directed the Medical Education and Medical SciencesDivisions of the Rockefeller Foundation. Although they oversaw the expenditure of millions of dollars, today they are forgotten. Yet, the system that Gregg administered became the model for the funding of biomedical research after the Second World War. This paper draws on the records of the Rockefeller Foundation to assess Gregg and his impact on biomedicine and philanthropy.     

综合消除运动疲劳措施效果的初步观察

为解决优秀青少年运动员科学训练问题,对综合消除运动疲劳措施的效果进行了研究。31名受试者采用综合消除疲劳措施(健身按摩椅、带式按摩机、水负离子发生器及音乐等),于训练后放松平均252±10.2min。结果表明:综合消除疲劳措施有使小腿肌肉硬度下降、血流改善、中枢神经系统及神经肌肉功能改善等效果。经对3名重点队员追踪观察2周表明,在运动量相对较大的训练周中,身体机能恢复较好。
