COMPUTER SIMULATION FOR ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN MOTION OF FLUID

In this paper,an equation system of electrohydrodynamics(EHD)based onthe fluid motion equations is discussed.Emphasis is put on the effects of electrical forceand surface tension upon the fluid motion.The Marker and Cell method is used to set up acomputational simulation program of electrically driven motion of fluid.With the help ofthe program,a cylindrical fluid under the influences of electrical field and surface tensionhas been calculated.The result is in good agreement with the experimental observation.

Classifying Data Sets Using Support Vector Machines Based on Geometric Distance

Support vector machines (SVMs) are not as favored for large-scale data mining as for pattern recognition and machine learning because the training complexity of SVMs is highly dependent on the size of data set. This paper presents a geometric distance-based SVM (GDB-SVM). It takes the distance between a point and classified hyperplane as classification rule, and is designed on the basis of theoretical analysis and geometric intuition. Experimental code is derived from LibSVM with Microsoft Visual C 6.0 as system of translating and editing. Four predicted results of five of GDB-SVM are better than those of the method of one against all (OAA). Three predicted results of five of GDB-SVM are better than those of the method of one against one (OAO). Experiments on real data sets show that GDB-SVM is not only superior to the methods of OAA and OAO, but highly scalable for large data sets while generating high classification accuracy.     

丙醇——硫酸铵——锌试剂体系萃取光度法测定镓

研究了Ga(Ⅲ)-n-propanol(丙醇)-(NH4)2SO4-Zincon(锌试剂)体系的萃取光度法并应用于测定镓.在pH为4.50～5.75的NaAc-Hac缓冲溶液中,金属配合物Ga(Ⅲ)-Zincon可被丙醇液相富集,其最大吸收位于640nm,表观摩尔吸光系数为2.39×10-4L·mol-1·cm-1,Ga(Ⅲ)的浓度在0～15μg/10ml范围内服从比尔定律.方法检出限为0.029μg·mL-1.Ga(Ⅲ)与锌试剂组成比为1:3.该法用于纯铝中Ga的测定,获得满意的结果.

Teacher expectations in a university setting: the perspectives of teachers

ABSTRACT

This study was designed to investigate the bases of teacher expectations in higher education. The first author interviewed 20 university teachers from an English-as-a-foreign-language course, exploring their expectations for the first-year undergraduates in their classes. The grounded theory method was adopted to analyse the data that had been collected. The results showed that for this sample of 20 teachers, student characteristics were important contributing factors to their expectations in the teachers’ university settings. The factors the teachers considered important included students’ (a) prior academic achievement, (b) motivation, (c) study skills, and (d) academic discipline. Also, teacher characteristics were found to be another major source of these university teachers’ expectations, including teachers’ (a) past teaching and learning experience and (b) teaching self-efficacy. The findings suggested that the bases of teacher expectations in higher education may differ from those at the elementary or secondary school level.
