分析了信息服务机构的经营目标、信息服务机构的内部优势和信息服务机构所处的信息环境，提出了信息服务机构经营决策由上述三种作用力共同决定的三维分析模型。     

基于Lucene/XML全文检索的应用及效率测试研究

设计了全文检索系统,系统由三大功能模块组成:索引模块、检索模块和存储模块.分析PDF数据转换、XML文档设计、索引的分词等技术难点,并对中文分词分析器、索引文件膨胀率、索引影响因子进行测试,在此基础上设计全文检索系统并对检索响应时间进行测试.在结论中指出应关注XML数据库的安全性.

Probability Density Function Method for Observing Reconstructed Attractor Structure

Probability density function (PDF) method is proposed for analysing the structure of the reconstructed attractor in computing the correlation dimensions of RR intervals of ten normal old men. PDF contains important information about the spatial distribution of the phase points in the reconstructed attractor. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first time that the PDF method is put forward for the analysis of the reconstructed attractor structure. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the cardiac systems of healthy old men are about 6 - 6.5 dimensional complex dynamical systems. It is found that PDF is not symmetrically distributed when time delay is small, while PDF satisfies Gaussian distribution when time delay is big enough. A cluster effect mechanism is presented to explain this phenomenon. By studying the shape of PDFs, that the roles played by time delay are more important than embedding dimension in the reconstruction is clearly indicated. Results have demonstrated that the PDF method represents a promising numerical approach for the observation of the reconstructed attractor structure and may provide more information and new diagnostic potential of the analyzed cardiac system.     

DNA microarray wet lab simulation brings genomics into the high school curriculum

We have developed a wet lab DNA microarray simulation as part of a complete DNA microarray module for high school students. The wet lab simulation has been field tested with high school students in Illinois and Maryland as well as in workshops with high school teachers from across the nation. Instead of using DNA, our simulation is based on pH indicators, which offer many ideal teaching characteristics. The simulation requires no specialized equipment, is very inexpensive, is very reliable, and takes very little preparation time. Student and teacher assessment data indicate the simulation is popular with both groups, and students show significant learning gains. We include many resources with this publication, including all prelab introductory materials (e.g., a paper microarray activity), the student handouts, teachers notes, and pre- and postassessment tools. We did not test the simulation on other student populations, but based on teacher feedback, the simulation also may fit well in community college and in introductory and nonmajors' college biology curricula.     

Towards the acceptability of China English at home and abroad

As English language learning becomes a hot issue in China, linguists in China and abroad are becoming increasingly interested in China English—a relatively new concept. Whether China English has acquired the status of a new English variety is still an open question. This paper reviews the acceptability of China English at home and abroad and finds that China English is still not a fully accepted form of English. However, this newly‐born English variety has great potential to be accepted as a Standard English variety.
