Evaluating the Social Validity of Project TEAM: A Problem-Solving Intervention to Teach Transition Age Youth with Developmental Disabilities to Resolve Environmental Barriers

Project TEAM teaches transition-age youth with developmental disabilities (DD) to identify physical and social environmental barriers and supports, generate solutions to barriers, and request modifications to increase participation. Establishing the social validity of this environment focused intervention with youth and their parents is critical, given the significant shift the intervention represents from rehabilitation’s more traditional focus on body structures and function. University researchers and youth research collaborators conducted a participatory evaluation of the purpose, procedures, and perceived benefits of Project TEAM. Youth with DD (n = 42) provided feedback using three methods: activity voting, a survey, and a focus group. Parents (n = 37) also provided feedback. Results suggest that both youth and parents find Project TEAM acceptable and relevant to youth’s current and future lives. The majority of youth and parents felt Project TEAM fostered independence and empowerment, although some youth and parents reported challenges with the unique environment-focused approach.     

Evaluating Children’s Participation in SEN Procedures: Lessons for educational psychologists

This paper reports the findings from a study of the participation of children with special educational needs (SEN) in decision‐making about their needs in a sample of mainstream schools which were self‐selected for having promising practices. The findings show promising practices in eliciting views, the importance of a school participation ethos and inconsistencies between policy and practices. The study also illustrates the complexity and challenge of consulting and sharing decision making with children and young people. The outcomes are discussed in terms of educational psychologists becoming involved in research and in supporting whole school developments of participation practices.

多媒体教学中的认知机制

多媒体教学是一种以多媒体传播媒体为手段,以人的感官为通道,以呈现模式的多样化为特征的现代化教学途径和方式。目前,研究者多从传播媒体、呈现模式和人的认知过程通道三个角度探讨多媒体教学。在多媒体教学中,学习者的学习过程主要发生在工作记忆中,因此,在探讨多媒体教学的认知机制时,一般比较关注工作记忆,其中,贝特利的工作记忆成分学说可以解释多媒体教学过程中的认知机制。多媒体教学要为学习者提供多重刺激,既要有听觉信息和视觉信息,更重要的是应让多种感觉通道编码协同作用,这是提高多媒体教学效果的一个重要条件。     

国有煤炭企业科技人才状况及相关问题研究

为及时了解和掌握国有煤炭企业科技人才现状和需求变化，更好地做好煤炭工业科技人才的培养和建设工作，《国有煤炭企业人才状况及相关问题研究》课题组对山西、河南、山东、安徽等8个省的12个矿区企业、5所原煤炭高校进行了调查研究，基本掌握了我国国有煤炭企业科技人员现状与需求信息，就有关问题进行了研究，有针对性地提出了一些对策建议。
