试析农民离村与乡村观念变革--以20世纪20-30年代的江苏为例

20世纪 2 0— 30年代是近代农民大规模离村的重要时段。本文选取兼具普遍性和典型性的江苏作为考察对象 ,试图从离村对农民传统价值观的冲击以及对农民宗法、家庭观念的改塑等方面 ,来探析农民离村与近代乡村传统观念变革之间的关系 ,并以此透视农民在现代化道路上的多重复杂心态及其社会心理转变。     

The Influence of Rurality and Parental Affect on Kindergarten Children's Social and Behavioral Functioning

Research Findings: Children's early academic achievement is supported by positive social and behavioral skills, and difficulties with these skills frequently gives way to underachievement. Social and behavioral problems often arise as a product of parent–child interactional patterns and environmental influences. Few studies have examined the role of a salient aspect of children's environments, community locale, in the relationship between parenting practices and child outcomes. Using a large, nationally representative sample, we examined whether preschool parenting practices and children's social-behavioral skills in kindergarten were related to geographic setting (rural vs. city, suburban, and town). Results indicated that rural children experienced greater difficulties with parent-reported externalizing behaviors. Furthermore, rural parents displayed less emotional support than parents in other settings. Preschool parenting behaviors were associated with social skills and behavior problems in kindergarten, as reported by both parents and teachers. Parents' emotional supportiveness was found to account for the relationship between geographic setting and parent-reported children's social skills, such that rural parents who provided less emotional support had children with lower social skills in kindergarten. Practice or Policy: Findings of this research indicate that rural children may face particular risk for behavioral issues and highlight the need for increased behavioral supports in rural communities. Moreover, our results suggest that interventions designed to promote parents' support of children's emotions may have particular utility for rural families.     

城市社会空间形态的转变与农民市民化

农民市民化是城市化整体进程中最为深刻的层面。上世纪90年代中期以来,随着我国大中城市城乡一体化发展的加快,在一些发达地区出现了景观城市化与农民市民化相脱节的现象,使农民市民化问题的重要性更为凸显。实际上,城市社会空间形态的转变与农民市民化之间具有十分密切的相互依存的关系．正是城乡一体化的发展,不断地促进社会空间格局从分散布局到空间体系的构筑、社会空间流动从地域凝固到空间开放的催化、社会空间治理从政区分割到区域联动的形成;而这一系列重大变化正深刻地表明,农民市民化既是城乡一体化发展的社会进程,同时也是城市形态变迁的空间过程。     

Selling the Male Consumer the Playboy Way

Under the direction of Hugh Hefner, Playboy magazine’s early success was predicated upon the unique marketing strategies of forging the persona of an idealized, imaginary reader called the playboy, with particular lifestyles and taste preferences. At the same time, it sold the value of men’s participation in the hedonistic pleasures of accessible connoisseurship of the postwar marketplace by aligning consumer desires with sexual desires as innate components of modern masculinity. The purpose of this article is to illustrate how this persona is visually and discursively articulated throughout the entire Playboy empire, from the content of the magazines including the dewy centerfolds and the What Sort of Man Reads Playboy? campaigns to the brand’s clubs and television shows. The persona undertook the dual tasks of attracting a lucrative male readership and its corresponding advertisers, while simultaneously redefining male consumer culture.

Project Cheddarfield: Supporting Co‐Curricular Themes Through Creative Use of Video Course‐Casting

This article chronicles the coordination and better integration of existing institutional resources to support cocurricular themes embedded in the provision of a large enrollment, video‐mediated undergraduate operations management (OM) course. The name Project Cheddarfield refers to a 2008 initiative in which two professors team‐taught an OM course to over 600 undergraduates on two different continents through the repeated rapid exchange of digital video between the United States and Singapore. Simultaneously infused in this core curricular delivery were themes of global awareness and study‐abroad, including the promotion of one particular opportunity that bridged the two campuses. This action research narrative spans over 5 years of related activity leading up to the initiative, as this project is best understood as a trajectory, or the evolving result of design adapting to unfolding realities.
