There are interesting similarities between carcinomas of the breast and prostate. Both genetic and exogenous factors are probably important in the development of breast and prostate cancers. Since there is an alarming increasing trend in the incidence of both cancers worldwide including India, high level of apprehension/awareness has been created among the general educated population. Furthermore, both cancers are strongly linked with the expression of the c-erbB-2 oncogene which has been the focus of basic research in the recent past. This gene belongs to the family of growth factor receptors and it has important implication in diagnosis and future treatment modalities.  相似文献

In order to scientifically evaluate the effect of copper bhasm, it was orally administered in a dose of 2 mg/day for seven days to one month old male chicks. There was significant fall in total red cells, and rise in plasma iron, PCV and MCV indicating hemolysis, compensated by increased heme synthesis. A significant increase in plasma iron binding capacity points to beneficial effect of copper bhasm on liver as transferrin is synthesized in liver. Ferritin (storage iron) was unaltered in seven days treatment. The effect of copper bhasm on tissue distribution of essential elements was variable. Calcium, sodium and potassium were significantly increased in all the tissues. The last two may have been contributed by the bhasm itself. Magnesium behaviour was similar to calcium. Iron and zinc showed variable effects. Copper level in whole blood, plasma and erythrocytes increased significantly showing that copper bhasm was well absorbed and the effect observed can be ascribed to it. The bhasm was well tolerated and no growth retardation was seen.  相似文献

There are numerous growing evidences of resemblance between carcinomas of the breast and prostate. A total of 45 cases of these two hormone-dependent cancers along with appropriate controls were subjected for status of epidermal growth factor receptors as well as serum lipid profile. Paraffin embedded tissue sections from aforesald tumours were analysed by immunohistochemical staining for epidermal growth factor receptor (EGF-R), c-erbB-2 oncoprotein, estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PgR). Sera from same individuals were studied for serum lipid profile analysis. The study revealed that immunoexpression of all receptor proteins (EGF-R). c-erbB-2 was significantly higher in breast carcinoma. In addition, mean levels of triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol were found to be significantly elevated while the level of HDL-cholesterol was observed to be lower among patients with breast cancer as compared to matched controls. Further, ER-positive breast cancer cases have significantly higher mean level of HDL-cholesterol when compared with ER-negative breast cancer patients. Contrary to this, no alteration in different serum lipid fractions was noticed among the patients with prostate cancer. However, a positive relationship was noticed between immunoexpressions of EGF-R and c-erbB-2 in prostate cancer.  相似文献

English: This paper discusses the interactive television technologies that are under development and experimentation in India. India, has developed Satellite based analogue and digital transmission systems for training and development purposes. The National Council of Educational Research and Training and Indira Gandhi National Open University have successfully conducted several experiments in training of in-service teachers using one-way video and two-way audio system. Use of VSAT and ISDN delivery channels is under experimentation, which provide two-way audio and video interaction during the teaching-learning process. The success of these programmes in teacher training has far reaching implications for teacher education in India.

Français: Cet article décrit les technologies de télévision interactive qui sont développées et experimentées en Inde. L'Inde a mis au point des systèmes de transmission analogues et digitaux par satellite. Le Conceil National pour la Recherche et la Formation en Èducation et l'Université Ouverte Nationale Indira Ghandi ont conduit avec succès plusieurs expériences sur la formation continue des enseignants utilisant la vidéo et un système émetteur-récepteur. L'utilisation des systèmes de diffusion VSAT et ISDN est expérimentée, ce qui fournit un système audio emetteur-récepteur et une interaction vidéo durant le processus de formation. Le succès de ces programmes dans la formation des mâitres a des implications à longue échéance pour l'éducation en Inde.

Deutsch: In diesem beitrag werden die interaktiven fernsehtechnologien, die in Indien gegenwärtig entwickelt und erprobt werden, vorgestellt. Indien hat satelliten-basierte analoge und digitale Übertragungssysteme für Aus-und Weiterbildungsswecke gebaut. Der National Council of Educational Research and Training und die Indira Gandhi National Open University haben mehrere lehrerfortbildungsprojekte erfolgreich mit mono-direktionalem fernsehen und bi-direktionalem audiosystem durchgefuhrt. Der erfolg dieses programmes in der lehrerfortbildung wird weitreichende folgen für die lehrerausbildung in Indien haben.  相似文献

This study sought to determine the attitudes and teaching self‐efficacy of pre‐service teachers towards the inclusion of students with disabilities into regular classrooms. A questionnaire was administered to 194 pre‐service Pakistani teachers (male 73, female 121) enrolled in a 1‐year teacher education programme at a government university in Pakistan. Overall, male pre‐service teachers expressed more positive attitudes than their female counterparts regarding the inclusion of students with disabilities in regular classrooms. Surprisingly, those pre‐service teachers majoring in special education did not express more positive attitudes towards inclusion than their counterparts who were preparing to teach in mainstream schools. However, participants with training in special education, knowledge of disability legislation, teaching experience and personal experience with a disability reported higher levels of self‐efficacy towards teaching within inclusive settings. The findings of the study are discussed with possible implications for policy‐makers and teacher educators in Pakistan and other countries in the South Asian region.  相似文献

Thermal physics is in the realm of everyday experience, underlies current environmental concerns, and underpins studies in sciences, health and engineering. In the state of NSW in Australia, the coverage of thermal topics in high school is minimal, and, hence, so is the conceptual understanding of students. This study takes a new approach at exploring conceptions of students with a qualitative analysis facilitated by NVivo complemented with reference to sociocultural ideas of learning. A 2-part pen and paper question was given to 598 first year university students of different educational backgrounds (and therefore physics expertise). ‘The Question’ was based on 2 familiar scenarios and required the selection of a concept first, followed by an explanation. The results showed that concepts were favoured based on a student’s everyday experience and their curriculum through high school, and some were more effective than others in making scientifically congruent responses. The reported thermal physics alternative conceptions were also examined in our sample, and students’ reasoning behind such conceptions indicate that some conceptions do not inhibit scientifically congruent responses whilst others do. The results implicate language and the everyday experiences of the student in the teaching and learning of thermal physics.  相似文献

In 150 healthy Indians, aged 10 months to 84 years, levels of total proteins. IgA, IgG and lysozyme in tears have been estimated to find age and sex, related variations. No sex related changes, were observed but levels increased significantly with advancing age upto 30 years, remained stationary between 31–45 years, and started declining thereafter, Immunoglobulin G was quantifable in 26% cases only. Furthermore, tear samples with high concentrations of total proteins had high level of IgA and lysozyme.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Composition, microstructure, and binding media of the decorative earthen plaster fragments from the Buddhist cave temple of Bezeklik (fifth–fourteenth century CE), China, were analyzed by X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, sieve analysis, and other methods. In addition, gas chromatography–mass spectrometry was used for identification of the organic adhesive found mixed in the earthen plaster. Studies indicated the presence of proteinaceous material, mainly beeswax, with animal glue, pine resin, and plant sterol mixed in the earthen plaster as the biopolymer. The organic additives improved the basic qualities of the mud by acting as stabilizers, hardeners, and water proofers. The loamy sand soil sourced for Bezeklik plasters shows low cohesion and disaggregation of grains occurred for want of clay-sized particles in the plaster. Due to frequent handling and transportation, the fragments are now showing distress in the form of loss of earthen support and paint layers. Based on the analytical findings, traditional binders such as sepiolite clay, slaked lime, and fish glue were introduced and fragments consolidated for display.  相似文献
