The Critique of Bley-Vroman’s Logical Problems

The article focuses on some points of view in disagreement with Bley-Vroman’s. In the author’s opinion, different from the L1 learning, UG is not or partially accessible to the adult foreign language learners. Some evidence is exposed to support the author’s hypothesis. The author will illustrate this from the following aspects: the concept of UG, the relation of L2 learning and problem-solving, UG accessibility, critical period, comprehensible input and interlanguage.

Nowadays,computer-mediated communication(CMC) becomes one of the most convenient ways for people to connect with each other in which Chinese/English code-switching has been frequently used and widely spread.The article will memeticly interpret this language phenomenon based on the authentic examples collected from various kinds of CMC,and point out that the Chinese/English code-switching in CMC is a kind of strong memeplex which includes many different strong memes,resulting in the popularity of Chinese/English code-switching in CMC.
