Discrete-scale invariance (DSI) is a phenomenon featuring intriguing log-periodicity that can be rarely observed in quantum systems. Here, we report the log-periodic quantum oscillations in the longitudinal magnetoresistivity (ρxx) and the Hall traces (ρyx) of HfTe5 crystals, which reveal the DSI in the transport-coefficients matrix. The oscillations in ρxx and ρyx show the consistent logB-periodicity with a phase shift. The finding of the logB oscillations in the Hall resistance supports the physical mechanism as a general quantum effect originating from the resonant scattering. Combined with theoretical simulations, we further clarify the origin of the log-periodic oscillations and the DSI in the topological materials. This work evidences the universality of the DSI in the Dirac materials and provides indispensable information for a full understanding of this novel phenomenon.  相似文献

Thirty-eight undergraduate students were randomly assigned one of two alternate forms of a 144-item true-false midterm examination. Whenever a statement appeared on one form as true and positively stated, it appeared on the alternate form as false and negatively stated. Similarly, a false and positively stated item on one form was true and negatively stated on the other. The subject matter of the two forms was identical and the four kinds of true-false items were equally represented on each form. Difficulty and discrimination indices were computed for each of the four item types. The statistical results showed negatively stated items were more difficult, but no more discriminating, than positively stated items. Also, false items were not statistically more difficult than true items, but were significantly more discriminating. It was concluded that test constructors should include more false items than true items in their instruments and that all items should be stated positively.  相似文献

An adult creativity survey, the Preference Inventory (PI), was based upon the assumptions that creatively productive persons, more than the average, mentally examine and play with ideas. Such people also are very curious, strong in needs to create, and are highly original. Scores on the PI were significantly correlated with scores on the Sounds and Images test, ratings of art and writing samples, and an objectively scored Statement of Past Creative Activities (SPCA). The SPCA was considered the most reasonable validating criterion. A regression analysis showed that different patterns of PI subscales were the best predictors of different criterion measures.  相似文献

An investigation of the relationship between high school priorities and self-concept was undertaken. Upper and underclassmen from large and small high schools completed questionnaires and the Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale. Participation in five activity areas was related to self-concept using a multiple-regression technique. The perceived similarity of each student's priorities with the school's priorities was also correlated with self-concept. The relationships accounting for the greatest proportion of the variance in self-concept scores were found among small-school upperclassmen. The results were interpreted as support for Barker's argument that small school students feel a greater obligation to participate in school activities.  相似文献

This study investigated effects of seven demographic and psychological characteristics of teachers on their performances during student teaching. Student teachers' performances were examined in relation to their ages, prior student teaching experiences, scholastic aptitudes, attitudes toward teaching, moral reasoning abilities, conceptual levels, and degrees of ego development. Results indicate that student teachers' performances were dependent in a nontrivial way on their ego development and to a much lesser degree on other characteristics.  相似文献

College undergraduates heard a 1760-word narrative which described events occurring on an imaginary island. As they listened, learners studied either a map of the island with features located spatially, a map—outline with features listed next to it, or just an outline without feature information. People who saw the map recalled more idea units and feature-related information on both free- and cued-recall tests. There was also a significant relation between correct recall and the ability of a subject to reconstruct the spatial relations on the map. The data were interpreted in terms of a feature-location model of map—discourse memory.  相似文献

This article presents evidence for the need for intercultural education in multicultural societies. Pupils who are culturally different from the majority need it to learn to function effectively in their own culture as well as in the majority culture. Since an important objective of education is to prepare individuals to function effectively in their environment, all children in multicultural societies could profit from exposure to effective intercultural education. Our research with American teachers and their Latin American or Hispanic pupils suggests that teachers also need to learn about the patterns of perceptions, values, and behaviors of culturally different pupils. Objections to intercultural education are listed and refuted. Advantages and disadvantages of three new approaches to intercultural education are discussed. Special attention is given to the attributional approach, an informational approach which is particularly well suited for use in educational settings. Research bearing on the effectiveness of this approach is presented.  相似文献
