Exploring pedagogical relationships in the context of free play

Early childhood advocates agree that positive teacher–child relationships are critical to classroom quality. Much research has emphasized quantifiable teacher characteristics and child outcomes without fully capturing the complexity of these relationships. Drawing on extensive classroom observations, two video-recorded free play sessions and teacher interviews, this study explored some of the ways that preschool teachers create and maintain positive relationships, with emphasis on how they care for the children: their ways of being with and for them. The results of this study provide practical examples for building and sustaining teacher–child relationships, help delineate the complexity of the relationships that exist in preschool classrooms and demonstrate the everyday ways in which those relationships are foundational for children’s learning and development.     

A novel long-chain acyl-derivative of epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate prepared and purified from green tea polyphenols

Lipophilic tea polyphenols (LTP) were prepared by catalytic esterification of green tea polyphenols (GTP) with hexadecanoyl chloride. A novel long-chain acyl-derivative of epigallocatechin-3-o-gallate (EGCG) was first isolated from purification of LTP by high-speed countercurrent chromatography (HSCCC) using a solvent system composed of n-hexane-ethyl acetate-methanol-water (1∶1∶1∶1, v/v). The molecular structure of the acyl-derivative, Epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate-4′-O-hexadecanate, was elucidated by means of elemental analysis, IR,¹H-NMR and MS spectra. Construction of recombinant industrial Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain with bglS gene insertion into PEP4 locus by homologous recombination

The bglS gene encoding endo-1,3-1,4-β-glucanase from Bacillus subtilis was cloned and sequenced in this study. The bglS expression cassette, including PGK1 promoter, bglS gene fused to the signal sequence of the yeast mating pheromone α-factor (MFals), and ADH1 terminator with G418-resistance as the selected marker, was constructed. Then one of the PEP4 allele of Saccharomyces cerevisiae WZ65 strain was replaced by bglS expression cassette using chromosomal integration of polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-mediated homologous recombination, and the bglS gene was expressed simultaneously. The recombinant strain S. cerevisiae (SC-βG) was preliminarily screened by the clearing hydrolysis zone formed after the barley β-glucan was hydrolyzed in the plate and no proteinase A (PrA) activity was measured in fermenting liquor. The results of PCR analysis ofgenome DNA showed that one of the PEP4 allele had been replaced and bglS gene had been inserted into the locus of PEP4 gene in recombinant strains. Different endo-1,3-1,4-β-glucanase assay methods showed that the recombinant strain SC-βG had high endo-1,3-1,4-β-glucanase expression level with the maximum of 69.3 U/(h-ml) after 60 h of incubation. Meanwhile, the Congo Red method was suitable for the determination of endo-1,3-1,4-β-glucanase activity during the actual brewing process. The current research implies that the constructed yeast strain could be utilized to improve the industrial brewing property of beer.

TEM4新大纲下听力理解的新挑战及其应对策略

与1997年版的考纲相比,2004年新版的高校英语专业四级的考试大纲听力测试的内容、形式和时长上都有所调整,难度也有所增加。要适应这一变化,教师要积极针对自己和学生的弱点进行分析研究,特别是可以利用速记增加记忆,从而引导学生做好考试应对。     

语法衔接手段与完型填空理解题

完型填空理解题是大学英语测试中较难得分的题型,主要考查考生综合运用语言的能力,完型填空是一篇完整的语篇,其语篇的连贯是依靠衔接手段来实现的,分析衔接手段之一的语法衔接手段中的时间关联成分(time relator)和地点关联成分(place relator)在该题中的运用,强调了掌握语法衔接手段的重要性。     

4-AAP试剂提纯对水样挥发酚测定的影响

在水环境监测中采用4-氨基安替比林（4-AAP）法测定挥发酚，但4-AAP试剂易被氧化颜色加深，空白值显著增高，对测定结果有较大影响．为此用氯仿萃取、活性炭吸附、苯浸洗3种方法对4-AAP试剂进行提纯，其空白值由提纯前的0．086分别降为0．054，0．018，0．015，相对标准偏差（RSD）由提纯前的6．9分别降为2．2，3．6，2．7．     

‘Students that just hate school wouldn’t go’: educationally disengaged and disadvantaged young people’s talk about university education

This paper contributes to a growing body of literature on widening university participation and brings a focus on the classed and embodied nature of young people’s imagination to existing discussions. We interviewed 250 young people living in disadvantaged communities across five Australian states who had experienced disengagement from compulsory primary and secondary schooling. We asked them about their education and their educational futures, specifically how they imagined universities and university participation. For these young people, universities were imagined as ‘big’, ‘massive’ alienating schools. The paper explores how the elements of schooling from which these young people disengaged became tangible barriers to imagining and pursuing participation in university education. The primary barrier they described was their relationships with school teachers. Our analysis shows how relationships with teachers can impact the imagined improbability/probability of university participation. We offer suggestions for how barriers to university created by poor relationships with teachers may be overcome.     

CET-4考试与大学英语教学分析——以遵义师范学院为例

CET考试是检验大学英语教学的重要手段,从我院两次CET-4考试来看,我院大学英语教学与国家要求还存在着相当大的距离,学生的英语成绩总体偏差,综合英语应用能力不强,特别是写作能力;学生基础差、学院教学班级的安排和把大学英语作为一门课程安排教学的教学模式是造成这种结果的原因。为改变大学英语教学效果不好的现状,我院拟采取在分层教学的基础上进行模块教学的教学模式。
