Academic libraries are facing increasing pressure to prove their value in the face of outdated public perceptions, financial challenges, and competition from other information providers. They are investing time, energy, and money to advertise their resources and services in a variety of ways. Despite these efforts, few libraries know whether these investments are meeting their objectives. Academic libraries should follow the advertising assessment practices used by businesses today to assess the cost, interaction, and outcomes of their advertising to determine its effectiveness. These guidelines provide necessary structure that will benefit library advertising efforts and marketing as a whole.  相似文献

The two authors were paired as part of a formal mentoring program for orientation and to prepare for eventual promotion and tenure. One author has over twenty-five years’ experience on campus, and the other author has completed one year in her current position. During that first year, various themes emerged to remind both librarians that the more things change, the more they remain the same. As the mentoring experience evolved, it became difficult to distinguish the mentor from the mentee because both librarians understood that discussing common issues was mutually beneficial.  相似文献

The relationship between health (H) and physical education (PE) has long been the subject of debate. Recently, however, the obesity crisis has raised this relationship to a new level of attention. At the risk of simplifying things, there are two ‘positions’ that seem to characterize the discourse regarding this new relationship. One position considers that the main mission of PE should now be the ‘war on obesity’. Advocates for this instrumental position tend to do research, using interventionist strategies focusing on (H)PE as a site for the promotion of physical activity. The other position argues strongly for the foregrounding of educational purposes for (H)PE and tends to pursue research by means of sociocultural research paradigms such as phenomenology, poststructuralism or critical theory. Importantly, these ‘positions’ draw on different literatures and discourses. Seldom do the advocates of these two positions speak to each other and, if and when they do, they seem to speak different languages. In this paper, I discuss the notion of academic discourse and explore, with some examples from conferences, how the conventions of academic discourse are (mis)understood and accordingly confound the development of more considered responses to the relationship between health and PE.  相似文献

[目的/意义]研究学术社交网络中图情领域用户的真实利用水平与特征,有助于指导图情学科合理利用学术社交网络开展学术交流并提升学科影响力。[研究设计/方法]以ResearchGate(RG)为例,在核实用户身份信息的基础上筛选出iSchools全职教学研究人员为真实样本用户,通过对机构真实用户参与度、高质量用户比及其它RG交互利用指标数据的挖掘,分析揭示iSchools成员真实利用学术社交网络的现状,并基于机构和个体视角比较分析不同群体的真实利用特征。[结论/发现]图情领域用户对RG的真实基础利用程度有限,尽管全职教学研究人员已经成为iSchools在RG上的高质量用户,但其对平台的利用效果依然不足;男性和北美iSchools全职教学研究人员等较低真实用户参与度的用户群体可能表现出更为充分的交互利用行为,而交互利用指标能够较好的映射诸如用户职称级别、机构层级所反映的学术影响力差异。[创新/价值]基于iSchools全职教学人员用户身份的核实,揭示机构整体真实利用状况和个体真实利用差异,指导iSchools合理利用学术社交网络,以期为其他高校图情院系提供标杆,并为平台相关评价指标优化与平台建设提供参考。  相似文献

马克思主义整体性研究对于加强人们对马克思主义的正确认识和理解具有重要意义。近年来,理论界围绕着马克思主义整体性研究的必要性和意义、整体性的内涵、加强整体性研究的路径等问题进行了深入研究;从理解马克思主义基本原理的逻辑主线或总体性范畴等角度挖掘了“什么是马克思主义基本原理”,并就什么是中国化马克思主义的整体性及如何加强中国化马克思主义整体性研究等问题进行了广泛探讨,取得了重要成绩。但马克思主义整体性研究还存在不足,需要从哲学高度、直面现实的深度继续努力。  相似文献

连云港市中小学生学业质量监测与问卷数据显示,整体学业质量稳中有升,达标与优分状态良好,基础知识与基本技能扎实有效,城乡学业质量差距缩小,公办与民办学校以及男女生学业质量趋于均衡。存在的主要问题包括县际之间学业质量不均衡,不同内容领域学业水平表现不尽相同,高层次思维能力有待提高,学业测试工具的适切性需要增强等。根据影响中小学学业质量的"绿色指标"、区县层面、学校层面和学生层面四个维度的因素,大力提升教育的质量和现代化建设水平,需要树立科学的质量观,提升教育发展指标,深化课堂教学改革,构建质量标准体系并重视教师队伍建设。  相似文献

Students turn to a variety of sources when searching for information for their academic assignments. This study uses findings from a survey given to 151 Israeli students attending a university in Israel. A questionnaire comprising 12 questions was administered regarding their information needs, information behavior, and difficulties in searching and writing an academic assignment. A special emphasis of the study was on the multicultural environment of the Israeli students and its effect on their information behavior. Results show that there is a significant difference between native language groups with regard to the use of search engines, the use of library services, and in the patterns of conducting their academic assignment.  相似文献

In 2010, the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education released, “Sustainability curriculum in higher education: A call to action,” encouraging infusion of sustainability topics into universities' teaching and research. Since then, academic programs and research related to social, economic, and environmental sustainability have enriched university curricula. An exploratory study was conducted to determine the position and engagements of academic libraries and information science schools in their contributions to scholarly sustainability activities and curricular initiatives. This article presents the results of the study which reveals a number of engagements by library professionals in the areas of sustainability, such as increasing open access to research, building sustainability-related collections and research guides, and incorporating sustainability content into information literacy. While academic libraries and information science schools are engaged in a broad spectrum of initiatives that support their institutions' sustainability research and curricular functions, this study indicates that such activities require a more targeted approach.  相似文献

以浙江大学本科生和研究生为研究对象,运用问卷调查和访谈方法,考察大学生对电子书的知晓度、使用行为、态度和接受程度。结果显示,大学生在休闲类和学术类电子书认知和使用行为上存在差异。大学生对一般电子书的认知度和使用率较高,对图书馆电子书库(主要为学术类电子书)的认知度和使用率非常低。总体倾向于使用搜索引擎获得电子书,高年级本科生和博士生则主要通过图书馆目录和网站获得电子书。使用目的总体上倾向于休闲娱乐,低年级本科生较多阅读小说,博士生更多使用研究专著。多利用移动终端设备和电脑,直接进行屏幕阅读,但对研究类电子书倾向于打印部分阅读。手持电子书阅读器使用较少,且受到大学生经济状况影响。大学生对纸本书仍存在强烈偏好。高校图书馆需要在宣传推广、激发大学生需求、与教师教学结合等方面改进电子书服务。  相似文献

基于对我国大学与研究机构图书馆知识服务理论热的回顾和学科化服务实践难的反思,以及对图书馆学科特质的辨析和图书馆工作者智能特点的讨论,本文提出将技术领域的资源发现拓展到服务理论和方法的全方位发现服务,探析发现服务的概念与内涵,指出:发现服务具有图书馆学科特质和适应图书馆工作者的智能特征,以“资源发现”、“知识发现”、“用户发现”等服务内容和方式提供学科化服务和知识服务,是大学与研究机构图书馆的服务趋势。参考文献36。  相似文献
