促进教师专业发展的美国教师资格认证制度

研究制度实施的效应和影响,和研究这个制度本身一样重要.美国教师教育研究者正逐渐从关注教师资格认证制度本身转移到考查制度对教师专业发展的影响上来.为了更清晰地分析美国教师资格认证制度对教师专业发展的影响,笔者从几方面探讨了当前美国教师资格认证制度对教师专业发展的促进,并对它们进行具体剖析.     

来自美国家园合作的启示——基于美国几种家园合作计划的思考

当今世界学前教育发展的潮流中,家园合作越来越受到人们的重视,而美国的家园合作历来受到人们的重视,发展相对完善。美国针对家园合作的计划有"美国家长教师联谊会"、"永远启航"计划、阿旺斯计划。美国的家园合作计划对我国的启示为:国家通过法律和政策来保障和支持家长的参与权;开展家园合作计划,使得家长具有参与权;转变思想观念,加大舆论宣传,重视家长对学前儿童教育的作用;丰富家园合作的形式,深化家园合作的内容。     

Authority Control in Academic Libraries in the United States: A Survey

ABSTRACT

Authority control is an important part of the cataloging process, but relatively little research has been conducted related to its practice in academic libraries. In addition, few studies have been conducted regarding staffing and training issues related to authority control. To examine these issues, a survey was developed and e-mailed to academic libraries at 258 institutions designated by the year 2000 Carnegie Classification as either Doctoral/Research Extensive or Intensive level. The survey consisted of questions relating to authority control practices and staffing and training issues related to authority control. One hundred ninety-three institutions responded for a return rate of 75 percent. The survey results indicate that authority control was practiced and highly valued by the vast majority of respondents and that many would like additional time, funding, and personnel to do more authority control work in their libraries.     

Janina Wójcicka Hoskins (1912–1996): Portrait of an Esteemed Librarian

In this article the author provides a glimpse of the life and work of Janina Wójcicka Hoskins, an influential Slavic librarian, who worked at the Library of Congress (LC) from 1951 to 1989. She emigrated from Poland during World War II. Through her efforts, the Polish collections at LC became the largest in the United States. She also mentored a number of younger Slavic librarians.

The article discusses work by Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia with Polish-American, Czech-American, and Slovak-American collections in the United States.     

Lithuania on the Web: Free Electronic Resources

ABSTRACT

The Republic of Lithuania, one of the three Baltic States, declared its independence from the Soviet Union on 11 March 1990. Lithuania joined the United Nations in 1991 and became a member of NATO and the European Union in 2004. Dalia Grybauskait? was elected president of the Republic of Lithuania in 2009 and reelected in 2014. Lithuania adopted the euro as its currency as of 1 January 2015. This paper discusses free websites that elucidate Lithuanian government, culture, and heritage.
