Go with the flow—a conceptual framework for supply relations in the era of the extended enterprise

The paper analyses the changes that an extended enterprise model of firms introduces into supply relations. After outlining the nature and characteristics of extended enterprises and the evolving nature of supply relations, the paper suggests a tool for supply network policy makers and a practical benchmarking tool for sectoral supply network management. It introduces the idea of value streams and flows and illustrates with empirical evidence from West Lothian, Scotland how and why supply networks are conduits of value and knowledge. The paper suggests how the value flow benchmarking tool may be used to approach decisions on the use of e-procurement and concludes with suggestions for further research.     

Framing pre-service English language teachers’ identity formation within the theory of alignment as mode of belonging in community of practice

This study investigates the identity formation of pre-service English language teachers in a multilingual setting, through examining their narratives and interviews under the lens of Wenger’s (1998) alignment as a mode of belonging in a community of practice (CoP). It was found that the alignment manifested by the participants lacks negotiability and shared ownership of meaning, which inhibits them from moving towards full participation in the CoP. What eventually results in this form of alignment is a language teacher identity rife with notions and practices anchored on monolingualism, native-speaker norms, and subtractive multilingualism.     

Testing measurement invariance of PISA 2015 mathematics,science, and ICT scales using the alignment method

This study investigates measurement invariance of the mathematics, science, and ICT scales across the 47 countries that participated in the PISA 2015 ICT Familiarity Questionnaire. Knowing whether the same constructs and measurements can be reliably compared across countries constitutes an important goal. The Alignment method is employed to test the measurement invariance of the three scales. The results show that mathematics and science scores are highly invariant and can be used to compare countries, whereas the ICT scale is mostly non-invariant and cannot be used to reliably compare ICT means across all participating countries. Implications and limitations are discussed.     

2011年新疆中考物理试题与物理课程标准一致性分析

随着新课程标准的出台,学业成就评价和课程标准的一致性分析成为教育改革的热门话题.借鉴美国SEC一致性分析方法对2011年新疆中考物理试卷与全日制义务教育物理课程标准间的一致性进行了研究.研究结果表明,物理课程内容标准和中考物理试卷的一致性程度不高,主要表现为两者在内容主题和认知水平上的侧重点不同.     

Refining Methods for Estimating Critical Values for an Alignment Index

Abstract

The alignment among standards, assessments, and teachers’ instruction is an essential element of standards-based educational reforms. The Surveys of Enacted Curriculum (SEC) is the only common tool that can be used to measure the alignment among all three of these sources (Martone & Sireci, 2009). Prior SEC alignment work has been limited by not allowing for significance tests. A recent article (Fulmer, 2011) provided a first attempt to address this shortcoming of the SEC, but that work was limited in several ways. We extend Fulmer's simulation approach by accounting for important elements of the SEC procedures, including the proper framework size, number of standards and assessment points, number of raters, rater cell-splitting rates, and rater agreement results. The results indicate that inferences about relative alignment may be heavily influenced by features of the alignment procedures. Thus, our method should be broadly applied to future SEC alignment investigations.     

关于农村公路建设问题的思考

结合某地农村公路的实地调查,主要是通过水泥混凝土路面的使用实例,浅谈农村公路建设中存在的问题。分析公路线形设计、路面结构选择及公路养护问题中需考虑的因素及其建议。根据水泥路面投入使用获得的经济效益及社会效益,推荐在农村公路建设中使用水泥混凝土路面。     

高中数学学业水平考试与课程标准的一致性研究

近年来,学业成就评价与课程标准一致性研究已经成为课程评价领域的热点问题。选取2017年2份浙江省高中数学学业水平考试试题作为研究对象,利用SEC模式和韦伯模式,对高中数学学业水平测试与课程标准的一致性进行研究,以期为今后学业水平考试试题的命制提供参考性建议。     

数控机床故障设置及排除装置的研发

现有的数控机床装调实训台缺乏故障设置及排除装置,不能满足维修人员的培训需求。为此,研发一种以8051单片机为控制核心的故障设置及排除装置,可解决数控机床电路故障和系统参数设置及排除的问题,对增强实训台功能、提高实训效率、延长设备使用寿命具有重要作用。实践证明,该装置性能良好,运行稳定。     

AHAB: Aligning heterogeneous knowledge bases via iterative blocking

With the development of information extraction, there have been an increasing number of large-scale knowledge bases available in different domains. In recent years, a great deal of approaches have been proposed for large-scale knowledge base alignment. Most of them are based on iterative matching. If a pair of entities has been aligned, their compatible neighbors are selected as candidate entity pairs. The limitation of these methods is that they discover candidate entity pairs depending on aligned relations, which cannot be used for aligning heterogeneous knowledge bases. Only few existing methods focus on aligning heterogeneous knowledge bases, which discover candidate entity pairs just for once by traditional blocking methods. However, the performance of these methods depends on blocking keys heavily, which are hard to select. In this paper, we present an approach for aligning heterogeneous knowledge bases via iterative blocking (AHAB) to improve the discovery and refinement of candidate entity pairs. AHAB iteratively utilizes different relations for blocking, and then matches block pairs based on matched entity pairs. The Cartesian product of unmatched entities in matched block pairs forms candidate entity pairs. By filtering out dissimilar candidate entity pairs, matched entity pairs will be found. The number of matched entity pairs proliferates with iterations, which in turn helps match block pairs in each iteration. Experiments on real-world heterogeneous knowledge bases demonstrate that AHAB is able to yield a competitive performance.

This essay examines Brain: The World Inside Your Head, a traveling museum exhibit sponsored by Pfizer, to show how the dissemination of psychiatric vocabularies aligns corporate and individual interests. The spatial composition of the museum and its interactive exhibits interpellate visitors as active agents capable of expressing their experiences through the scientific vocabularies of contemporary neuroscience. The gentle and benevolent conditioning to a way of thought and a manner of speaking, rather than a “hard sell” approach, makes pharmaceutical remedy an obvious and desirable mode of self care.
