OA in the Library Collection: The Challenges of Identifying and Maintaining Open Access Resources

While librarians, researchers, and the general public have embraced the concept of Open Access (OA), librarians still have a difficult time managing OA resources. To find out why, Bulock and Hosburgh surveyed librarians about their experiences managing OA resources and the strengths and weaknesses of management systems. At this session, they shared survey results, reflected on OA workflows at their own libraries, and updated audience members on relevant standards and initiatives. Survey respondents reported challenges related to hybrid OA, inaccurate metadata, and inconsistent communication along the serials supply chain. Recommended solutions included the creation of consistent, centralized article-level metadata and the development of OA collection development principles for libraries.     

高校图书馆情景敏感服务中的用户隐私保护研究

高校用户在享受图书馆提供的情景敏感个性化服务的同时,也面临个人基本特征、行为情景等隐私泄露的风险。文章探讨了高校图书馆情景敏感服务中涉及的用户隐私内容,分析了情景敏感服务对用户隐私保护提出的新要求,界定了用户隐私保护的范围,在此基础上,从宏观、中观、微观三个层面,技术、管理两个维度构建高校图书馆情景敏感服务中的用户隐私保护机制,并提出用户隐私保护与图书馆服务提供之间的平衡、用户隐私保护有效性评价、用户隐私数据的定期清理等需要关注的问题。

随着互联网的发展及电子商务的普及,电子商务推荐服务越来越受到业界及学界的关注。在明确大数据 环境下电子商务推荐服务的内涵与特征基础上,总结归纳近几年电子商务推荐服务的研究重点,建立大数据环境下推 荐服务的框架体系,分析推荐服务的发展趋势,并指出当前推荐服务存在的一些问题。在对大数据环境下的推荐服务 相关研究进行相对完整的梳理的基础上,发现当前研究的不足之处,提出自己的见解,以期为电子商务推荐服务发展 提供一定参考。

居家养老服务是政府和社会力量依托社区为居家的老年人提供生活照料、家政服务、康复护理、精神慰籍、文化娱乐等方面服务的一种服务形式,在现有经济条件下全面推进居家养老服务是我国发展社区服务、建立养老服务体系的一项重要内容也是对我国传统家庭养老模式的更新和补充。

The transfer of local authority school support services to external social enterprises

This paper explores an emerging and largely unresearched sector of the school education market, the transfer of local authority support services to external social enterprises. It locates these new social enterprises as a consequence of government strategies to reduce public spending, shrink local government and create competitive markets in public service provision. Non-profit social enterprises create and occupy a sector of a differentiated market in school support services which is not sufficiently commercially attractive to for-profit companies. The government discourse of these social enterprises as employee-led mutuals is contradicted by their user-led ownership and governance regimes. The analysis offered by this paper is substantiated by a case study, based on interviews and policy documents, of the transfer of the Birmingham local authority's Music and Health Education Services to a social enterprise independent from the city council.     

The whole picture: Child maltreatment experiences of youths who were physically abused

The purpose of the current study was to describe the maltreatment experiences of a sample of urban youths identified as physically abused using the Maltreatment Case Record Abstraction Instrument (MCRAI). The sample (n = 303) of 9–12 year old youths was recruited from active child protective services (CPS) cases in 2002–2005, and five years of child protective service records were reviewed. The demographic and maltreatment experiences of MCRAI-identified youths with physical abuse were compared to maltreated youths who were not physically abused and youths who were identified as physically abused by CPS when they entered this longitudinal study. T-tests and chi-square tests were used to compare the demographics and maltreatment experiences of the sample MCRAI-identified physically abused to the sample MCRAI-identified as nonphysically abused maltreated by gender. Of the total sample, 156 (51%) were identified by MCRAI as physically abused and 96.8% of these youth also experienced other types of maltreatment. Whereas youth with the initial CPS identification of physical abuse showed little co-occurrence (37.7%) with other forms of maltreatment. The MCRAI-identified physically abused youths had a significantly higher mean number of CPS reports and higher mean number of incidents of maltreatment than MCRAI-identified nonphysically maltreated youths. Lifeline plots of case record history from the time of first report to CPS to entry into the study found substantial individual variability in maltreatment experiences for both boys and girls. Thus, obtaining maltreatment information from a single report vastly underestimates the prevalence of physical abuse and the co-occurrence of other maltreatment types.

“十三五”时期中国人口发展面临的挑战与对策

“十二五”时期中国人口持续保持低速增长,人口老龄化程度不断加深。预测表明,中国劳动年龄人口及比例将不断下降,人口老龄化将以世界上少有的速度快速提高,总人口将在2026年左右达到高峰后开始下降。“十三五”时期中国人口发展将面临人口结构失衡、劳动力供给下降、养老服务需求快速增长、城镇化转型等多方面的挑战。为应对这些挑战,必须尽快全面放开二孩生育,转变经济发展方式和开发人力资源,大力发展养老服务业,积极推进新型城镇化等。     

国际旅游岛建设与海南翻译服务业发展需求探究

旅游业快速发展促进了海南整体经济实力增长,提升了海南接待国际游客的实力,但目前海南旅游业发展过程中仍存在翻译服务水平欠佳等难题。因此,大力发展翻译服务业对于海南整体发展和国际旅游岛建设具有重要意义。本文就国际旅游岛建设、海南翻译服务业发展趋势与现状、海南翻译服务业发展需求等方面进行探究,并提出对策性建议。
