Floating collection in an academic library: An audacious experiment that succeeded

Can a floating collection thrive in a large multicampus academic research library? Floating collections have been successful in public libraries for some time, but it is uncommon for academic libraries and unheard of for a large academic library system. This article will discuss the investigation into the feasibility of a floating collection at Penn State University Libraries, its implementation, and continuation for a period covering 2009 through 2015. Attaining the floating collection, limited to monographs in the general stacks of campus libraries, proved to be easier to implement than imagined and resulted in unintended benefits as well as some surprises.

皈依与溢出：甲午战前清政府整顿绿营略论——以规复绿营兵额为主线

国内农民战争的冲击使绿营兵制几近崩溃。战争结束后，清政府决心整顿绿营，其整军措施有二：一是补充兵额，充实编制；二是实力整顿，提高战力。总之以维持绿营经制军地位于不坠为归宿。然而绿营的强化在相当程度上并非“上（朝廷）下（督抚）同欲”之果，在具体实施过程中转变为“裁兵以练兵，节饷以裕饷”的整军路径，部分绿营军队虽然提高了待遇，改善了装备，却是通过裁减兵额而实现的，实际上是绿营内部资源的腾挪和挹注。清政府整顿绿营的行动最终演化成一场裁兵潮。

University,Knowledge and Regional Development: Factors Affecting Knowledge Transfer in a Developing Region

The role of knowledge in the current knowledge economy cannot be overly emphasised. Successful regions are continuously being linked to excellence in the production, accumulation, and application of knowledge. Universities have increasingly been at the centre of such knowledge production, application and transfer. Yet, there is little research and evidence in this regard pertaining to less developed countries. The paper aims to fill this gap. The study uses the conceptual notion of knowledge transfer to interrogate the engagement level between the university and its region. Using a qualitative approach comprising the use of primary and secondary data, the authors capture some of the factors affecting knowledge transfer. Highlighting both supply-side and demand-side factors, the authors argue in favour of a nuanced and complex negotiation of the knowledge-development interface between universities as knowledge producers and regional stakeholders as knowledge users. Such negotiations should take cognisance of local realities.

齐国大地军事家辈出,兵法著作内容宏富,孙武生长于泱泱大国的古老齐国,齐国是中国的兵学发源地,先秦的主要兵书出自齐地,孙武的兵学思想上承源远流长的齐国兵学传统流脉,深深承受于地域文明滋养,深深打上了齐文化的印痕。在中国兵学发展历史上,从姜尚到孙武再到其后的孙膑,形成了源远流长而又一脉相承的齐国兵学文化传统。     

论“变现”

文章认为，变现部分国有资产是我国建立社会保障体系和国有经济调整与改组的必然要求。一方面，由于社会保障基金的巨大的缺口，作为一种历史欠债，只能通过变现部分国有资产来偿还。另一方面，由于我国国有经济的战略性调整与改组都需要有部分国有资本通过流动变现与重组来实现。由于国有资本在变现、流动过程中发生的只是形态的转换，因此，不存在私有化问题。同时，只要变现方式得当，各项预定目的是可以实现的。

经过我们8个多月的查访,初步断定:北师大藏<脂砚斋重评石头记>(以下简称师大本),整理者为收藏并校补己卯本的陶洙(心如)先生,师大本上的一些朱笔批语为周绍良先生补录.师大本的整理时间,通过两个参照点(即周汝昌先生1949至1952年间将甲戌本的录副本借给陶洙;另据周绍良先生回忆,陶洙1952或1953年时,将自己整理的庚辰本卖给了现在的中国书店)可以推断为1949至1953年之间.
