陈启天与20年代中期收回教育权运动——兼谈国家主义教育思潮

文章从历史的角度探讨陈启天由非基督教到反基督教教育进而主张收回教育权的思想发展轨迹。国家主义教育思想是其从事收回教育权运动的理论基础。在收回教育权运动中,他充分利用《中华教育界》和《醒狮周报》两大舆论阵地,一方面自身系统建构国家主义教育理论以鼓吹收回教育权,另一方面积极引导教育界的舆论导向,声援收回教育权运动。同时,他在中华教育改进社年会上多次提请相关议案,并发起成立"国家教育协会",推动收回教育权运动。对于他在这场运动中的历史贡献与关怀祈向,应予以肯定与关注。     

社会服务:近代中国基督教大学的本土化探索

适应近代中国社会的发展,基督教大学开始了本土化的积极探索,社会服务是其重要方面之一。以医疗卫生、农业推广、社会教育为载体,基督教大学的本土化进程不断推进。虽然在开展社会服务的过程中,基督教大学不可避免地存在困惑与矛盾,但它毕竟借此与中国社会建立了较为密切的联系,同时也为其他大学的变革与发展提供了启示与借鉴。     

回鹘景教研究百年回顾

宋元时代，景教在回鹘人中相当流行，吐鲁番、敦煌等地发现有为数不少的回鹘文景教文献，此外，吐鲁番、喀什、霍城及福建泉州、江苏扬州、内蒙古自治区赤峰市和达茂联合旗乃至中亚七河流域等地也有回鹘景教遗物发现，都可为回鹘景教的研究提供证据。百年来，回鹘景教一直是国际学术界研究的热门话题，涌现出相当丰富的学术成果，在新旧世纪交替之际对其进行认真的总结、回顾，具有继往开来的意义。     

Passing on Political Information between Major Powers: The Key Role of Ambassadors between Byzantium and some of its Neighbours

Ambassadors and embassies were numerous between Byzantium and its Muslim and Western Christian neighbours during the Middle Byzantine Period. This article seeks to demonstrate that these official envoys constituted major players involved in the transfer of political information between the courts considered. Ambassadors were those who travelled the most in the Mediterranean area during our period – at least between 700 and 900. Furthermore, as official envoys acting for sovereigns, they were carefully listened to by those sovereigns when they returned. Information coming from ambassadors is found in various sources and concerned military matters and foreign policy. But we also find precise data on domestic affairs and internal political information. Furthermore, news of usurpations and troubles in Byzantium may have constituted an important part of the information transferred beyond the Empire. Foreign ambassadors witnessed usurpations and palace revolutions. Their testimonies could have nourished the idea of a Byzantine government weakened by political instability and this theme became prominent during the twelfth century in some Western Christian courts.     

When Christian education meets patriotism: Christian organisations’ response to the introduction of Moral and National Education in Hong Kong schools

Plans by the Hong Kong Government to introduce moral and national education (MNE) as a compulsory subject in primary and secondary schools in 2010 encountered strong opposition. The controversy over the plans has lasted for two years, with the government and its supporters claiming that the subject will help to instil a stronger sense of national identity in children and critics deriding it as biased and constituting a form of brainwashing. The subject is also seen as posing troubles or a considerable threat to local Christian schools because most of them have had their own religious education programmes for years. Most Christian school-sponsoring bodies and parachurch organisations oppose the subject’s introduction, urging the government to scrap its curricular guidelines, and many say they will boycott its implementation. To bring the issues surrounding MNE into sharper focus, this article traces the development of Christian education in Hong Kong and analyses how local Christian communities perceive and have responded to the official proposal. Three prominent themes commonly emphasised in the Christian discourse are plural identities, conditional patriotism and universal values. These themes could shed light on wider theoretical discussion about the positive roles of religion and religious education for citizenship education.
