创新、整合与交流＊--AECT 2013年会评述与思考

2013美国教育传播与技术协会（AECT）国际年会,10月29日至11月2日在美国加尼福利亚州洛杉矶东南近郊的橘子郡阿拉海姆镇召开,来自世界各地的学者、专家800多人参会。年会在“创新、整合与交流”（Innovate-Integrate-Communicate）这一主题下,共为参会者提供了777场会议发言和学习、交流与研讨机会。通过大会的主题报告、主席专场报告、分会论坛与发言、圆桌专题论坛和论文张贴等形式,本届年会展示了当今教育技术的运用与研究成果,体现了教育技术在研究方法、创造性、新型媒体与移动技术等诸多方面的发展趋势,同时也探讨了教育技术蓬勃发展的态势以及其所面临的种种挑战。     

Communication in a shared governance hospital: Managing emergent paradoxes

Shared Governance (SG) is a model of employee participation that is increasingly being implemented in hospitals. This paper examines communication processes that occur in SG by providing a case study of a Nursing Department at Western Hospital A review of literature related to SG in professional nursing provides a background for introducing a chronology of implementation in Western Hospital. Data was collected in long interviews conducted with 15 bedside/staff nurses. Nurse accounts revealed paradoxes that paralyze the SG process. Forms of paradox are discussed and examples of paradox are identified. Leaders must determine priorities in managing on‐site paradox and suggestions are offered for working within paradoxes to enhance organizational functioning.     

Aggressive and Affiliative Humor: Relationships to Aspects of Intercultural Communication

The security theory of humor was utilized to examine two types of humor (affiliative and aggressive) in relation to intercultural communication. Participants (N?=?241) completed a survey containing measures of humor (humor orientation, humor aggressiveness) and intercultural communication (intercultural communication apprehension, ethnocentrism, emulation, intercultural willingness to communicate). Humor orientation was negatively related to intercultural communication apprehension. Humor aggressiveness was positively related to ethnocentrism and negatively associated with emulation. Implications for the theory and intercultural communication are discussed.     

Shall I Help a Stranger?: Spiritual Intelligence and its Relation to Altruism,Ethnocentrism, Intercultural Willingness to Communicate,and the Intention to Act

This research explored the relationships among spiritual intelligence (SI), altruism, ethnocentrism, and intercultural willingness to communicate (IWTC), and how these related to the intention to help a culturally different stranger. Controlling for gender and age, the findings for the 281 student participants’ responses revealed that those with higher levels of SI tended to have higher levels of altruism and higher levels of IWTC. Regarding the intention to help, higher levels of altruism were linked to lower avoidance of interacting with a stranger while higher levels of ethnocentrism were linked to a greater likelihood of leaving without acting to help.

Intercultural Friendship: Linking Communication Variables and Friendship Success

International students often complain about the lack of friendships with host nationals. This study explores the relationship between communication variables, number of friendships, and friendship satisfaction. International students at a large urban university in the United States completed a survey on willingness to communicate, communicative adaptability, English language proficiency, loneliness, and friendship with the Americans. Results show that international students rated their American friendships lower than their home- or other-culture friendships. Friendship numbers and satisfaction were significantly related to communicative adaptability, language proficiency, and loneliness. There was no significant correlation between friendship success and willingness to communicate or length of stay.     

Updating Relationships Between Communication Traits and Communication Competence

This study examined the degree to which six self-perceived communication traits are related to self-perceived communication competence (SPCC), both individually and collectively. The results indicate communication apprehension and shyness were strongly and inversely related to SPCC, whereas willingness to communicate was strongly and positively associated with SPCC. When examined collectively, several communication traits were found to predict SPCC.     

How to Make Junior English Lessons Lively and Interesting by Different Teaching Aids

This paper is mainly concerned with the usage of teaching aids in junior English from three aspects : the visual aids, the audio - visual means, the body language and tone. By this means, it can give the students a comparatively real circumstances, attract the students‘ attention, enhance the students‘ interest in English and improve their consciousness of competition.
