Education in the interregnum: an evaluation of Zygmunt Bauman’s liquid-turn writing on education

In his liquid-turn writings, Zygmunt Bauman has come to identify liquid modernity as a period of interregnum. Education has a central role to play within the contemporary interregnum by opening up a new public sphere for dialogue. However, the processes of liquefaction manifest themselves in conditions that severely limit a person’s ability to exercise their human agency. Bauman provides no indication of how the educators can escape the processes that limit agency, nor does he explain how educators can combat the seductive consumerism that students need to overcome before they can engage in a reconstruction of the public sphere.     

Reflexivity,position, and the ambivalent public space: the politics of educational policy in Taiwan’s local governments

The rise of reflexivity and neoliberalism has led to a change in the nature of the public sphere and policy management. Thus, focusing only on analyses of state-initiated policy and the actions of central government is not conducive to understanding the complex process of policy implementation today. Hence, this study aims to analyse the politics and process of policy implementation at the level of local government in Taiwan through two rounds of qualitative interviews. It is found that current policy environment has created the “agile” actors, which locates in the informally and flexibly collaborative space rather than structured within the formal institutions. And the value of administrators (accountability-orientated) is not favourable to successful implementation. Moreover, a successful case of policy implementation is also analysed. It is concluded that “reflexivity” and “position” in the “ambivalent public space” are the key factors to interpret the process of policy implementation. Finally, it is suggested that we should expand key actors’ “macro imagination” (recognizing the changing nature of the public sphere) and “micro imagination” (creating discourses reflecting current problems and reconstructing new possibilities) in the process of policy enactment.

Punditry as a reward system: audience construction and the logics of the punditry sphere

The article explores the relationship between the punditry sphere and democracy by analyzing how pundits and media organizations think about their audience. It also examines the role of punditry in the political environment in which the media organizations operate. Using Portugal as an example, the study draws on data gathered from interviews with pundits, journalists and news editors. Findings suggest that pundits and media organizations construct a punditry sphere that revolves around the circles of power. The article argues that this conception of the punditry sphere reflects the reward system under which pundits and media organizations work. Punditry seems to be a field primarily oriented to pundits themselves and to managing their stakes in the public arena while operating as a sphere where media organizations rework their relations with and within established powers, where politicians hold a special place. This construction reflects the co-dependence between media organizations and circles of power in Portugal and offers organizational-structural understanding of the logics of the punditry sphere and the role pundits play in public communication.     

Digital divide or discursive design? On the emerging ethics of information space

This article seeks to identify, theoretically,some broad ethical issues about the type ofspace which the Internet is becoming, issueswhich are closely linked to developing newagendas for empirical research into Internetuse. It seeks to move away from the concept of'digital divide' which has dominated debate inthis area while presuming a rather staticnotion of the space which the Internet is, orcould become. Instead, it draws on deliberativedemocracy theory in general and John Dryzek'sconcept of 'discursive design' in particular toformulate six types of issue (Convergence, WhoConverges?, Deliberation, Public Action,Relations to the State, and Long-term Patternsof Practice) around which both empiricalresearch and ethical debate can focus, andwhich taken together will help answer whetherthe Internet is, or can be, in part a'discursive design' which contributes to theconditions of democratic public life.     

HPM视角下的数学教学设计:以椭圆为例

发生教学原理是HPM视角下数学教学设计的主要理论依据,要求根据重构的历史进行教学.以椭圆为例考察椭圆的历史,并对其进行重构,据此进行教学设计.教学实践表明:HPM视角下的椭圆概念教学创造了学生的学习动机,激发了学生的学习兴趣,对于椭圆焦半径性质的旦德林球推导法,学生在理解上并没有困难;进一步的问卷调查发现:较之教材上的椭圆引入方法,大多数学生更愿意接受HPM视角下的引入方法.因此,有必要进一步深入开展HPM视角下的数学教学研究,开发更多的HPM教学案例,让数学史融入数学教学不再成为一句空话.

该文通过探讨教育哲学的范畴及其关系，试图为研究教育哲学问题，建立较稳定的教育哲学内容体系提供一些思路。该文首先明确了教育哲学范畴应有特殊性、普遍性、稳定性、关联性等特性，以此作参照，具体分析了社会发展需要、个体发展需要、社会的文化、个体的素质、教育活动、学习活动等范畴及其相互关系，并将其分类，试图构建教育哲学的内容体系，说明教育的本质和规律。     

民事诉讼简易程序问题的分析与探讨

我国民事诉讼简易程序无论在立法层面还是在司法层面上,均存在着简易程序和普通程序的界限不清、适用范围不明确、适用范围过于狭窄、简易程序的设计不够科学合理等问题。本文根据我国民事诉讼简易程序存在的问题,借鉴国外民事诉讼简易程序的立法经验,提出了完善我国民事诉讼简易程序的具体建议,以期推动相关制度的完善,从而进一步促进司法公正和提高诉讼效率。
