Shared Family Identity,Age Salience,and Intergroup Contact: Investigation of the Grandparent–Grandchild Relationship1 This study was part of the first author's doctoral dissertation and portions of the study were presented at the National Communication Association annual meeting,Chicago, 2004.

This study investigated communicative and relational aspects of the grandparent–grandchild relationship that lead to perceptions of age salience and shared family identity with the grandparent. The perceptions represent manifestations of inter- and intragroup levels of categorization in dealing with the other family member. The association between these group-oriented categorizations and perceptions of intergenerational contact outside of the family was examined. Participants (N?=?369) completed questionnaires assessing perceptions of experiences with multiple grandparents. Findings showed that general family identification of the grandchild, parental encouragement, and personal communication (social support and reciprocal self-disclosure) are positively associated with perceptions of shared family identity, whereas intergroup communication (under/overaccommodation) and perceptions of impaired health are associated with age salience. Results suggest that age salience may moderate the relationship between shared family identity and perceptions of older adults in some circumstances.     

An Explorative Study of the Outcome of Language Contact

Contact linguistics,as a sub-field of applied linguistics and sociolinguistics,deals with the process and outcomes of two or more languages’contact.This paper first focuses on the situation in which and when language contact occurs,and then attempts to investigate the outcomes resulting from language contact,and finally makes an examination on the language conflict that inevitably resulted from language contact.It can be implied that language conflict can be effectively resolved or at least mitigated through appropriate language planning measures.     

Sensitivity analysis of stamping processes using various friction models appropriate for non-stationary contact problems

This paper looks at the sensitivity of thickness to variation of friction. The models of friction used are: the classic Amontons-Coulomb; a nonlinear pressure-dependent model proposed by Wriggers, vu Van and Stein; and a velocity-dependent model proposed by Molinari, Estrin and Mercier. They are coded in FORTRAN for use with finite element program ABAQUS. The contact problem is then formulated in the total Lagrangian formulation for contact between an elastic-plastic body and rigid tools. The variational (weak) form of the formulation is given and this is discretized by finite element method. To test and compare the models, one common metal forming processes is simulated: deep drawing of a square-cup. The sensitivity graphs showing each of the three friction models together is given at the end. One other conclusion although not major part of this work is that Amonton-Coulomb is not the best model suited for contact conditions in metal forming processes, because Wriggers et al. model and Molinari et al. model provide better results for modelling bends and corners.     

Promoting the attitudes of nursing students towards refugees via interventions based on the contact hypothesis: A randomized controlled trial

A randomized controlled study was implemented on 90 nursing students in Turkey. The sample was divided into two groups: intervention and control group. The intervention group received education on refugee health and participated in a practical internship with refugees. Three scales were administered to the two groups at baseline (pre-test) and the end of intervention (post-test): "Xenophobia", "Attitude Towards Refugees" and "Intercultural Sensitivity". The three scale post-test scores of the intervention statistically significantly differed from control group and showed a statistically significant interaction between the groups and time in the two-way analysis of variance. The three scale post-test scores significantly differed from the pre-test scores in the intervention group, showing more relevant effects on xenophobia scale, two subscales of attitude towards refugees and intercultural sensitivity scale. The interventions based on the contact hypothesis improved nursing students' attitudes towards refugees.

随着大数据时代的来临,信息与数据的作用也越来越明显。面对如此海量的,甚至掺杂着虚假信息的数据,分析人员在分析的过程中不可避免的会受思维定势以及认知偏好的影响。针对此状况,引入竞争性假设分析法( ACH),通过对马航失联事件的分析,介绍ACH方法及其在大型突发性事件中的应用,以此推动ACH在实际应用中的进一步发展。

主要阐述免电源线安防监控传输系统的设计、制作、样机鉴定与工程使用效果.该系统包括信号电源混合器、同轴电缆、信号能量补偿器、信号电源分离器4个部分,传输中不需要电源线,仅仅使用一根同轴电缆就能同时传输电源、视频、音频和数据信号,节省大量传输材料,降低工程造价和维护成本,缩短施工工期.     

顾客接触理论在太原市营利性健身俱乐部的应用研究

顾客接触理论是一种先进的管理理念,已经在服务业得到了广泛的应用。文章通过对俱乐部顾客的问卷调查,对俱乐部经营者、员工的访谈,了解俱乐部在与顾客的全面接触中出现的问题,采用卡诺模型分析顾客对不同接触点的评价质量,最终实现运用顾客接触理论发现和探索当前健身俱乐部顾客管理中出现的不足,以期建立和发展良性的客户关系。     

A new method for recording the temporal pattern of stride during treadmill running

The aim of this study was to investigate the reliability of a new infrared light based method (IR₄₀) for recording temporal stride patterns during treadmill running. The IR₄₀ device, emitting a tight web of 40 infrared light beams 10 mm above the treadmill running surface, was compared to a previously validated electro-pneumatic contact shoe (CS) method while nine well-trained athletes ran at 2.8, 3.3, 3.9, 4.4, 5.0, and 5.6 m s⁻¹. Disconnection and reconnection of the IR beams marked the stance phase. The sampling rate was 500 Hz for both methods. The stance phase duration was on average 11.5 (±8.4) ms longer with the IR₄₀ than with the CS depending on earlier touch down (8.3 ± 6.2 ms) and delayed toe off (3.2 ± 5.3 ms) registrations. Significantly different stance phases were recorded between all velocities and for both methods. Thus, despite the fact that the IR₄₀ systematically measured a somewhat longer stance phase duration than CS, the IR₄₀ is nonetheless useful for temporal stride analysis during treadmill running.
