情景语境与广告语篇的语言选择

广告作为一种推销语篇体裁，意义在于其交际目的和交际效果，这就要求广告撰写者准确地把握语篇的文化语境和情景语境，才能实现其预定的目的和效果。本文运用系统功能语言学的语境理论，主要从情景语境中的语域变体，即语场、基调和方式三个方面分析广告语篇中的语言选择，探讨在具体语境下广告创作如何取得“适切性”，达到预期的交际目的和效果，以及运用系统功能语言学的语境理论来分析广告语篇的可行性。

Virtues of the educator

Abstract

This article is a translation, with accompanying comments, of an address given by Paulo Freire in 1985. Freire deals with his vision of the virtues necessary in a teacher. He considers eight virtues, the final one underpinning the others. For Freire, this final virtue—the necessity of reading the text from reading the context—means that critical discussion in the classroom (or other space dedicated to education) is recognized by the students as relevant to their lives. If this is achieved, the other virtues mentioned in the address can be developed by the teacher, in an ongoing process of critical reflection with students. These virtues are all discussed in terms of the resolution of profound tensions which are present in all situations of learning and teaching.     

Context-related changes in academic self concept development: On the long-term persistence of big-fish-little-pond effects

Academic self-concept (ASC) is subject to substantial change throughout the course of schooling. Besides individual factors, contextual characteristics play an important role in driving changes in self-perception. The abilities of classmates are especially important: Equally able students report lower ASCs when in high-achieving classrooms than when in low-achieving classrooms. This contextual effect is known as the Big-Fish-Little-Pond Effect (BFLPE). Although the BFLPE has been replicated in different settings, little is known about whether it is important across consecutive contexts. Therefore, we analyze the effects of various contexts on students’ ASCs. We draw on a sample of fourth graders, who transitioned from elementary school to secondary school. Using contextual information from both elementary and secondary school, our results indicate that the BFLPE exists in both elementary-school and secondary-school contexts. Yet, when students moved to secondary-school, the BFLPE from elementary school successively diminished and was no longer discernible after one year.

语境研究的几种态势透析

纵观语境, 其研究呈现出几种重要态势, 即多元化、动态化与认知化。1 、多元化经历了一元化(上下文) 、二元化(语言语境、情景语境) 与三元化(语言语境、情景语境、知识语境) 的过程, 语境的多元化(或者说语境特征的细化) 有助于系统而详细地描述语境与意义之间的关系; 2 、动态化是指以动态的观点去分析与解释语境, 它反映了言语交际的实际, 也是当前的语境研究不同于传统语境研究的一个重要方面; 3 、认知语境不是指任何具体的语境, 而是具体语境的内在化、认知化, 人们在言语理解中所依赖的, 往往是这种认知语境。语境的虚拟化研究, 即视听意义上的动态语境的研究, 是一个很有潜势的课题, 但“语境学(contextology) ”建立的必要性与可能性尚待探讨。
