This paper constitutes an attempt to explore trends, issues and challenges that emerge when three different cohorts of pre-service teachers debate contemporary issues in science education at the University of Botswana. Apart from the author's experience of teaching the course, the impetus for this study also comes from a growing interest in the contemporary literature in the need for teachers who, in the context of globalization and knowledge economy, are ‘self-reforming’ through continually addressing the key issues of their profession. Human dignity is a grand concept that is assumed to play an important role in education. However, no widely accepted universal definition of human dignity exists. The aim of this study was to examine the Discourse of Human Dignity within teacher education, especially with respect to how Swedish teacher educators make meaning of the concept of human dignity. Findings show that four subdiscourses are involved in the Discourse of Human Dignity within teacher education. Two frequently-used discussion protocols were investigated as part of a program to implement teaching cases in undergraduate educational psychology classes designed for preservice teachers. One protocol involved synchronous face-to-face (FTF) discussion of teaching cases, which occurred in class after students had individually completed written case analyses as homework outside of class. The other was asynchronous computer-mediated (CM) discussion taking place outside of class, simultaneous to students’ completion of their written case analyses. Six class offerings of an undergraduate child development course taught by two instructors (three classes by each instructor) were randomly assigned within instructor in a quasi-experimental design to one of the three discussion conditions: FTF, CM, or no discussion of the cases across the semester. Findings indicated that both CM and FTF discussion conditions were associated with positive outcomes relative to the control condition. Both CM and FTF discussion related to higher cognitive–affective engagement with the cases than the control condition; and the CM discussion condition was associated with higher cognitive–affective engagement than FTF discussion. In contrast, FTF discussion, but not CM discussion, was associated with higher-than-control-condition case analysis ability at the end of the semester. Potential explanations for these findings and directions for future research are discussed. 相似文献

We propose a framework to reflect on the development of four information systems (IS) paradigms, arguing that this field has followed a similar path to that of Management Sciences (MS). The framework comprises four IS paradigms/discourses: (1) positivist/normative; (2) soft/interpretive; (3) critical/pluralistic; and (4) constructivist/2nd order cybernetics. The paper characterizes these approaches to IS by using four key terms: System; Organisation; Management and Information, exploring the way these concepts are perceived through the lens of the four paradigms. The paper reports on the nature of current IS trends, from an initial survey of six top IS journals identifying articles adhering to the interpretive, critical and constructivist paradigms published between 1999 and 2009. Results indicate that IS is moving towards research practice in which interpretive, critical and constructivist discourses are utilised. Implications of the proposed framework and publication trends, together with some points for further research, are offered. 相似文献

随着我国城镇化进程的加速,如何协调好城镇建设与地域生态系统的关系成为当前规划界的热点问题之一。本文基于GIS技术,从水资源安全、生物多样性保护、灾害规避与防护和自然游憩等4个方面,构建了空间尺度上的生态用地重要性综合指数和区域关键性生态用地空间结构识别方法,并进行了京津冀地区的实例研究。结果表明,京津冀地区核心型生态用地的面积为54943.87km2,占全区总面积的1/4,分布在西北部山区,主要是区域的河流水系、湿地、自然保护区、森林公园和风景名胜区的核心区,是维护区域生态安全的底线生态用地。识别结果能较好地反映关键性生态用地维护区域水、生物、灾害防护和游憩安全的空间特征。该识别方法将有利于指导我国土地的生态管理,开展生态保育和生态建设,维护区域生态系统健康与安全。 相似文献

在以自由体为主的新诗中,既存在一种以重复、对称为基础的,较有灵活性的韵律(“非格律韵律”),也存在节奏的“非韵律面相”问题,即种种不以重复和同一性为基础的节奏控制方式。本文讨论的是节奏的“边界”,即一个节奏片段绵延的时间长度和范围。节奏边界操控的方式包括句子长度与内部的句法构造、标点、空格、分行、分节等。节奏的边界不仅形塑了一首诗基本的节奏外形,也内含了其吞气吐气的方式,还涉及意象的呈现、情感的波动起伏、诗歌悬念的展开等诗艺的诸多层面,是表现诗人的气质和个性的重要手段,也鲜明地体现出节奏的时间性本质。 相似文献
