Students’ evaluation of academic courses: An exploratory analysis to an Italian case study

Students’ evaluations of teaching is a common practice in higher education institutions, with the main purpose of improving course quality and effectiveness. In this paper we would like to contribute to the existing literature on course and teaching evaluation by providing an empirical analysis based on questionnaires collected by an Italian private institution, namely the Libera Università Maria Ss. Assunta (LUMSA), for several degrees in Social Sciences. In order to identify the main factors affecting students’ satisfaction, we use not only teaching indicators and degree-specific characteristics, but also control for student-specific characteristics. Our analysis is based on a Multiple Correspondence Analysis for categorical variables, which represents a very useful method to study the multidimensional relationship among qualitative variables, along with a hierarchical clustering, in order to better summarize the results. Our findings reveal that student satisfaction relates to teaching and course organization. Moreover, we find some evidence that students typically evaluate their course on the basis of their experience rather than their personal interests.

在线交互活动中学习者批判性思维发展轨迹研究

批判性思维是知识经济时代人才所必备的高阶思维,在线交互活动是发展学习者批判性思维的重要途径。但目前对在线交互活动中批判性思维的行为特征及其发展轨迹还缺乏深入的研究。故基于“多媒体课件设计与开发”课程,采用滞后行为序列和认知网络分析对学习者批判性思维发展轨迹进行分析。结果显示:(1)学习者批判性思维行为模式呈现多元化态势,批判性思维深度在不同阶段的表现有所不同;(2)核心参与者批判性思维行为在“创造”层级占据首位,边缘参与者批判性思维行为在“分析”层级占据首位;(3)学习者可分为优秀型、被动型、问题型和跟随型四种类型;(4)提问次数、被教师回复次数、被同伴回复次数与“评价”和“创造”层级的批判性思维显著相关,被点赞次数与“评价”层级的批判性思维显著相关,回复他人次数与“理解”和“分析”层级的批判性思维显著相关。     

Towards a network governance of European lifelong learning: a structural analysis of Commission expert groups

ABSTRACT

The influence of the European Commission (EC) expert groups on policy coordination within the European Union has received a growing interest among researchers, who have assessed their role in policy-making processes, their participation patterns, their transparency, and their knowledge-generating process. This article interrogates the structural configuration of the networks, and the relationships between the actors, formed through the Commission expert groups on adult learning, and under the Education and Training 2020 work programme, respectively, by means of a Social Network Analysis. So attention is paid on the mutual-constitutivness of a social network and its members, or the potential power within a network, and of a network, to influence member states’ domestic adaptation of communitarian policies. Our analysis points at noticeable differences between the connectivity of each of the Commission expert groups, and the groups emerging from the two forms of network governance these produce in the adult learning, and education and training domains. A key result, however, is that two actors (i.e. Flemish Department for Education and Training, Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland) stand out as fully embedded in both forms of network governance, and represent highly connected ‘informal’ brokers across policy domains.     

改革与创新：斯坦福大学人工智能人才培养的特征分析

随着《新一代人工智能发展规划》的颁布以及各大高校纷纷设立人工智能专业,需要积极开展有关人工智能人才培养的研究。本研究采用比较研究法和案例研究法,对人工智能领域的翘楚——斯坦福大学的人工智能人才培养进行研究。研究发现:斯坦福大学通过持续的改革与创新,形成了一系列典型的人工智能人才培养特征,具体表现为:第一,基于跨界融合理念的“复合型”人才培养目标;第二,基于“全人”理念的一体化人才培养机制;第三,基于内联与外延理念的多元化人才培养策略;第四,基于开拓创新理念的“灵魂”型人才培养氛围。以斯坦福大学为鉴,未来可从创新跨界融合机制、积蓄人才培养源动力和强化“项目依托”环境建设三个方面入手,构建适应我国国情和发展需求的人工智能人才培养体系。     

话语分析理论对预科口语教学的启示

日常会话看起来是无规律可循的，其实会话也是有结构、动机和一定表达意义的活动。研究这一活动，不仅可以填补语言研究的空白，而且可以促进当今社会语言教育的发展。本文拟从话语分析发展的过程、话语分析理论，话语分析结构理论的角度来探讨它在第二语言教育中所起的作用。     

高校健美专项课专项考核内容与评价方法的调查分析

采用文献资料法、调查研究法,对高校健美专项课专项考核内容与评价方法进行研究分析,提出健美专项课主要以平卧推举和负重深蹲作为专项技能考核内容,以学生克服自身体重作为评价学生健美专项练习的基本标准,以双臂屈伸、引体向上、仰卧起坐作为专项素质考核内容。尊重学生的个体差异,以学生挑战自我为目标,已逐步成为健美专项课专项考核评价方法的基本趋势。建议制订细化的易于教师和学生实际操作的评价表。     

Endogenous peer effects: Fact or fiction?

The authors examine endogenous peer effects, which occur when a student's behavior or outcome is a function of the behavior or outcome of his or her peer group. Endogenous peer effects have important implications for educational policies such as busing, school choice and tracking. In this study, the authors quantitatively review the literature on endogenous peer effects through the use of meta-analytic methods. They find a significant and positive endogenous peer effect. It appears to be a genuine empirical effect but is dependent on the measure of educational outcomes, the peer group, publication status, and publication year.
