Exploring Emotional Intelligence Among Master's‐Level Counseling Trainees

The authors explored the relationship between counseling trainees' emotional intelligence (EI), empathy, stress, distress, and demographics. Results indicated that higher levels of EI were associated with lower stress and distress, higher affective and cognitive empathy, and age. These findings suggest curricular integration of EI and potential utility of EI measures to evaluate students' progress throughout the program.     

I Agree—Well,Mostly!

In this essay, I reply to my five commentators in the October 2017 issue of the Roeper Review to my July 2017 article: “ACCEL: A New Model for Identifying the Gifted.” I respond to each in turn. I end with the question I believe most important for those of us interested in giftedness to confront at the present moment.     

Predicting multicultural effectiveness of international students: the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire

The present study considered the reliability and validity of the 78-item revised version of the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire, a multidimensional instrument aimed at measuring multicultural effectiveness of expatriate employees and students. The questionnaire includes scales for cultural empathy, open-mindedness, emotional stability, social initiative and flexibility. Participants were native and foreign students of an international business school (N=171) in the Netherlands. The MPQ scales appeared to be more strongly predictive of adjustment of international students as compared to native students. Moreover, the instrument was able to explain variance in students’ adjustment beyond self-efficacy.

谁拥有智力?

传统的智力理论狭窄化甚至曲解了人类智力 ,但概念边界的过度扩展又使得智力概念失去真义。智力是单一的还是由多种能力构成 ?智力是否由遗传决定 ?智力的任何成分是否都可以准确测量 ?这三个尚未解决的问题主导着关于智力问题的讨论。在作者看来 ,这些问题已超出了学术讨论的范畴。     

How emotionally intelligent are pre-service teachers?

Although there is evidence that teacher emotional intelligence is important for pupil adjustment and learning and for teachers in managing the emotional demands of their work, little is known about the levels of emotional skill of teachers and beginning teachers. Using Mayer and Salovey's emotional intelligence (EI) model and the MSCEIT test of EI, this study investigates how emotionally skilled student teachers are (N = 352). Results show lower than average levels of EI among student teachers, but with important differences between students and across emotional skill areas. The implications of the findings for pre-service teacher education are explored.

智力是彼此相对独立的，它以多元形式共存。多元智力理论体现出差异性、化性与实践性等特征。多元智力理论为开展扬长教育实验提供了理论支撑，为探索扬长教育的目标、核心、途径、评价提供了许多有益的启示。     

论人工智能融入高校思想政治教育的深层逻辑

对于高校思想政治教育而言,人工智能既是实践背景,也是技术工具,更是发展契机。从现实来看,人工智能的深度融入与标准化应用能够为有效识别教育对象的思想动态、提升教育内容的精准程度、拓展思想政治教育的空间维度注入新的技术动能,且已经成为高校思想政治教育创新发展的必然趋势。但在价值前提、技术限度和具体操作层面也存在隐私保护与意识形态安全隐患、教育主体性迷失、教育关系数据化、专门人才匮乏等诸多潜在风险及现实难题。因此,必须辩证看待人工智能的技术动能与潜在风险,高扬教育价值理性,加强技术监管,锻造智慧型育人队伍,合理界定人工智能的融入边界和适用范围,将人之主体能动性与机器之智能优势强强结合,积极探寻教育与技术的共存共荣之路,自觉建构高校思想政治教育的智能形态。
