School assessment in Thailand: roles and achievement of ONESQA

The 1999 National Education Act emphasizes the importance of quality assurance and national education standards. The main principle of educational provision of high standard lies in recognition of the importance of assessment for enhancing educational quality and raising the standard. Such recognition has led to establishment in Thailand of the Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA). The office is an independent body set up to develop the criteria, methods for external assessment and assessment of educational institutions at each level of education as stipulated in the national education law. The ONESQA became operational in November 2000 and it must appraise every school at least once every 5-year cycle. In this paper, the unique and the roles of the ONESQA will be described. The achievement of the ONESQA concerning the first round assessment of 35,134 schools at the basic education level will be reported and recommendations for quality improvements and lessons learned for the second round assessment will be explored.

因为全社会的就业难和贫富差距的加大,高考经久不衰地受到广大人民群众的关注,成为政府和民众关心的热点问题。本文从“创新型人才选拔”的角度出发,评价了七年高考改革的成败得失,剖析了当前考试与招生工作中不科学和不公平的现象,并就自主招生的实践、新课改与高考的关系、不同志愿填报方式的比较、政府与高校的责权错位进行了简洁的分析,从而论述了从高考改革走向招录改革的必然性。     

略论职考管理现代化与人的现代化

职考管理现代化的标准包括制度法规化、程序规范化、程序计算机化、队伍专业化、管理理论科学化。职考管理人员的现代化包捶岗位设置现代化、思想意识现代化、文化素质现代化。人的现代化是职考管理现代化的基础，人的现代化可促进和加速职考管理现代化的发展；职考管理现代化有利于促进入的现代化。     

Organizational Identification: A Mixed Methods Study Exploring Students’ Relationship with Their University

Organizational identification (OID) is the outcome of social construction processes in which individuals define themselves in terms of their organizational membership. Students’ identification with their university reflects value congruence with the institution and is reflected in communication. Drawing on social identity theory (SIT) and utilizing quantitative and qualitative data from students (n = 555), we found relationships between OID and construed external image of the university, trust in the university, satisfaction with the university, perceived interorganizational competition, and outcomes, including intended future involvement. Students were re-surveyed nine months later (n = 397, with 83 respondents matching Time 1 and Time 2) to assess their OID stability. Open-ended responses describe situations and events that strengthen/lessen OID. We offer implications for OID, SIT, and for organizational communication research and practice.
