The ethical status of non-commercial spam

Much attention has been given in recent years to the moral status of commercial spam. Less attention has been focused on newer, non-commercial varieties of spam, such as spam from political parties, community sector organizations and governments. This article makes a start on evaluating the moral status of these non-commercial varieties of spam, drawing on arguments used to evaluate commercial spam.

Explaining outsourcing in health,sport and physical education

Outsourcing is a complex, controversial and pervasive practice that is increasingly becoming a matter of concern for educational researchers. This article contributes to this literature by examining outsourcing practices related to health, sport and physical education (HSPE). Specifically, it reports data on specialist health and physical education (HPE) teachers', principals' and external providers' reasons for participating in outsourcing arrangements. These data were obtained from a collective case study of six schools and the external providers that they outsourced HSPE to over a 12-month period, using semi-structured interviews and overt participant observations. The findings illustrate the ways in which the informants explained their outsourcing practices using a variety of educationally and organisationally oriented reasons. Educational value, human resources (e.g. expertise), physical resources (e.g. facilities) and symbolic resources (e.g. status) were reasons for outsourcing HSPE that were commonly cited by principals and specialist HPE teachers. Among external providers, educational value, income generation and promotion/advertising were frequently cited to explain their work with and for schools. These findings illustrate the ways in which outsourcing practices in HSPE articulate with, and are implicated in, broader educational privatisations. They also highlight the boundaries that outsourcing practices trouble or reinforce, such as those marking the purview of markets, membership of the HPE profession and the constitution of expertise.     

加强高校基层党组织自身建设的思考

加强高校基层党建工作的首要任务是党组织自身建设,这是抓好高校党建的基础性工作,事关高校党组织战斗堡垒的形成与巩固,以及政治核心作用的发挥。加强党组织自身建设,要基于现状、问题和不足,着重班子建设、队伍建设和机制建设等方面加以改进和完善。     

浅析高校学生组织中学生主体性的培养

学生组织以发展学生为根本宗旨,同时肩负着校园文化建设的任务。学生组织的运行过程应以学校引导为前提,以学生组织为载体,充分发挥学生在组织中的主体作用。但由于认识与实践的局限性,学生主体性的实现在操作过程中仍然存在诸多不足。完善学生组织的主体性需要培养学生在群体中的主体意识,建立常规管理机制,建立学校—学生组织—学生之间的合理关系,创新学生组织的管理模式,例如扁平化的管理机制。     

Leaders learning from leaders as an emergent action learning strategy

This account of practice describes what three executive leaders in a professional association have learned about action learning and their own practices of organizational renewal. Data are approached narratively and stories are told from the perspectives of diverse educators’ experiences, agency, and expertise. Mature organizations can be revitalized and diversified through the action learning of executive leaders who integrate a new and diverse faculty body into the governance structure and decision-making process. The goal of facilitating diversity goals for established organizations has relevance for universities, schools, businesses, and other learning environments. Public conversations can strengthen the diversity-oriented outreach missions of professional organizations.
