Crossing the boundaries of imagination: The role of a public library exhibition in global learning for student teachers and teacher educators

In this paper, we utilise the theoretical concept of ‘boundary crossing’ to explore how, as Australian university teacher educators, we worked with library curators and a class of student teachers to mount a public exhibition of their group work. We consider how the students crossed ‘boundaries of imagination’ in symbolic representation and critical analysis by creating artistic installations to express global education themes. We reflect on what we, the university educators, learned about crossing institutional and pedagogical boundaries to mutually facilitate new learning. We argue for the importance of shared public pedagogy as offering new avenues for teacher education and of connecting with local communities.     

Global citizenship education in conflict-affected settings: Implications of teachers’ views and contextual challenges for the Lebanese case

Despite embracing GCED themes, the Lebanese National Curriculum faces multifaceted challenges rooted in conflict. The 1997 curriculum is still in effect with revision attempts encumbered. Interviews with 56 public school teachers in Lebanon confirm prevalent knowledge transmission practices of prescribed civics content and lack of support for progressive teaching and critical dialogue. Findings suggest few teachers prioritise GCED constructs, while most promote nationalistic citizenship notions contributing to marginalisation. Moving forward, teacher education should develop teaching practice and mindsets for sustainable GCED with the intent of emancipating teachers and students from the limitations of national curricula.

本设计采用GPS及多套数据采集系统获取数据,最终由计算机系统进行处理及控制,可对江河湖泊等区域进行无人智能化测量及监测,为改进江河湖泊等水域测量方法做了一定的探索工作。实践证明,该设计对测量研究及实际使用都有一定参考价值。     

Existence and global exponential stability of equilibrium of competitive neural networks with different time scales and multiple delays

In this paper, some sufficient conditions are obtained for existence and global exponential stability of a unique equilibrium point of competitive neural networks with different time scales and multiple delays by using nonlinear Lipschitz measure (NLM) method and constructing suitable Lyapunov functional. The results of this paper are new and they complete previously known results.

【目的】 总结《科学通报》英文版(Science Bulletin,2015年之前为Chinese Science Bulletin)与Springer出版集团11年的国际合作实践,以期对我国英文科技期刊更好地借助国际合作提升自身影响力等方面提供一定的借鉴和参考。【方法】 介绍《科学通报》英文版与Springer 11年的国际合作出版基本情况、合作基本内容和不同发展阶段的探索,梳理刊物较长一个阶段的发展趋势。【结果】 国际合作的不断深化和海外可见度的提升,为刊物质量的提高和国际影响力的提升起到了积极的促进作用。【结论】 在坚持继续深化国际合作的同时,要大力提升自身办刊能力,积极组织高质量稿源,提升国际竞争力和影响力,且以集团化方式参与国际合作争取更多的合作效益。
