BCH—LT级联码的分析与设计

通过把无码率LT码和BCH码进行级联,构造了一类性能优异的级联码,并且提出了软判决迭代译码算法,应用在内外码的译码过程中,解决了错误平层问题。通过仿真可知,在加性高斯白噪声二进制对称信道中,该级联码在很宽的信噪比下具有较好的性能,可以进行可靠的传输。     

Rethinking Our Mobility: Supporting Our Patrons Where They Live

This article describes initiatives undertaken by one academic medical library to support patrons using handheld mobile devices. These initiatives included efforts to assist patrons with installation and use of mobile information resources, educate librarians regarding content and navigation of mobile apps and websites, and leverage tools to promote the library in a mobile environment.     

Where policy meets the pavement: Stages of public involvement in the prevention of school violence

Based on qualitative research on school and city violence, this article examines three forms of partnerships between community organizations and schools, including youth interventions by social services; community activism; and school liaisons with the police. The article examines how violence-prevention strategies are conceived within a context that includes the formation of policy directed at communities, youths, and schools; social science theories of delinquency; public rhetoric about youth and families; and efforts on the part of community residents, city departments, and social services. The underlying theory-base behind the research can be associated with cultural studies, since it combines cultural and structural interpretations of the topic and analyzes policies according to their processes, in light of their constructions, and in connection with the theories that guide them. It becomes obvious by the end of the article that community-based violence-prevention organizations collaborating with schools are sometimes blocked from doing good work by poor funding, power struggles, and a deficit model of youth. While the partnerships can, at times, help to initiate positive involvement of disenfranchised people, they can also become instruments of city power structures. For their positive and productive work to come out, the interagency and school collaborations must solve the problems that are discussed in the article.

摘要：团体操表演功能的研究,对明确团体操艺术发展的方向具有基石性的作用,亦是为体育院校原创新学科提供理论依据的一项基础性研究。研究采用文献资料以及44部国家级团体操视频资料统计法,运用文化人类学、象征学、语言学等工具,以团体操起源、表演形式与各种仪式的交汇、手段要素为线索探讨团体操表演功能。得出：团体操起源于斯拉夫民族国家,因团体操宏大精美的表演形式受到斯拉夫国家政府的高度重视,并大力推广。这种宏大精美的表演形式被奥运会开幕式、国家纪念日以及国家级会议的开幕式或晚宴所运用,而成为世界范围内的仪式表演。团体操表演是通过对手段要素的选择、重组,形成特定图案,这一特定图案用于彰显人性中的正能量,即对生命的礼赞。礼赞的对象,称为团体操文化、艺术功能。团体操的文化、艺术功能是,完成民族文化符号的展示、完成民族命运密码的展示和完成主题的展示。     

RFID: A New Technology in Library Management Systems

RFID is an acronym that stands for the radio frequency identification. RFID uses wireless radio communications for unique identification of people or assets. This article explains the technology, how RFID tags work, and, more important, their various uses in libraries.     

Unlocking the Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States

A newly revised Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States was approved in 2016, the 100th anniversary of its first appearance. This article outlines the 2-year, iterative revision process undertaken by the ALA RUSA STARS Codes, Guidelines, and Technical Standards Committee, including the results of two public surveys and significant changes to the Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States. The authors hope to provide a template for future revisions and share the process with the entire interlibrary loan community.     

A code-based approach for labeling in complex irregular regions

Labeling information in a complex irregular region is a useful procedure occurring frequently in sheet metal and the furniture industry which will be beneficial in parts management. A fast code-based labeler （FCBL） is proposed to accomplish this objective in this paper. The region is first discretized, and then encoded by the Freeman encoding technique for providing the 2D regional information by 1D codes with redundancies omitted. We enhance the encoding scheme to make it more suitable for our complex problem. Based on the codes, searching algorithms are designed and can be extended with customized constraints. In addition, by introducing a smart optimal direction estimation, the labeling speed and accuracy of FCBL are significantly improved. Experiments with a large range of real data gained from industrial factories demonstrate the stability and millisecond-level speed of FCBL. The proposed method has been integrated into a shipbuilding CAD system, and plays a very important role in ship parts labeling process.     

A fast BER evaluation method for LDGM codes

Low-density generator matrix (LDGM) codes have recently drawn researchers’ attention thanks to their satisfying performance while requiring only moderate encoding/decoding complexities as well as to their applicability to network codes. In this paper, we aim to propose a fast simulation method useful to investigate the performance of LDGM code. Supported by the confidence interval analysis, the presented method is, for example, 10⁸ times quicker than the Monte-Carlo computer simulation for bit-error-rate (BER) in 10⁻¹⁰ region.     

Dynamic Nature of Boundaries of Speech Communities: Learning and Negotiating Codes in Intercultural Communication

Using the ethnography of communication and speech codes theory, this study aims to capture instances in which individuals’ views of appropriate conduct and cultural boundaries are undergoing change in intercultural interactions. The paper proposes a way of describing such instances by illustrating Japanese speakers’ experiences of encountering unfamiliar codes in problematic situations with English speakers in the United States, recognizing boundaries, negotiating contrasting codes, and revising their perceptions of codes and boundaries as a result of engaging in remedial episodes. The study illuminates the dynamic nature of the boundaries of speech communities and adds an ethnographic exploration of intercultural communication.
