Labour market intermediaries: a corrective to the human capital paradigm (mis)matching skills and jobs?

The orthodox supply-side human capital theory (HCT) paradigm is inadequate for understanding and adjusting to labour market volatility in UK regional economies like Wales. This article explores the role of regional labour market intermediaries (LMIs) in matching supply (skills) and demand (job opportunities) in regional labour markets. Some LMIs emerge because the HCT paradigm is failing. One Welsh LMI, Shaping the Future (StF), is explored empirically using qualitative methods. StF mainly adopted HCT tenets, but with some emergent demand-side focus. Despite helping workers adjust to labour market shocks, LMIs are not equipped to fix the structural demand-side problem of finite quality job opportunities in deindustrialized regions that accentuate skill use. A broader ‘skill eco-system’ paradigm is required, emphasising the foundational economy.     

Human dignity within teacher education: A matter of individualism, competitiveness, and strategic rationality

Human dignity is a grand concept that is assumed to play an important role in education. However, no widely accepted universal definition of human dignity exists. The aim of this study was to examine the Discourse of Human Dignity within teacher education, especially with respect to how Swedish teacher educators make meaning of the concept of human dignity. Findings show that four subdiscourses are involved in the Discourse of Human Dignity within teacher education. These discursive constructions are influences by outcomes of, for example, life-science research, and British and/or American media discourses.     

哈尔滨体育学院运动人体科学专业优化课程设置的思考

运动人体科学专业是一门新兴的多学科交叉专业,其专业课程设置问题对于专业人才的培养、拓宽学生就业渠道等方面具有重要作用。本文对哈尔滨体育学院运动人体科学专业课程设置现状进行了分析,肯定了已经取得的成绩,并针对此现状提出了改进的建议：着力挖掘更多突出学科特色的课程;合理把握医学课程设置比例与深度;增强学生实践能力;开拓学生视野,提高学生创新能力;在部分课程中开设双语教学等。以期对于运动人体科学专业建设和学科发展有所裨益。

中国佛教人文关怀的内涵分为两个方面,即在人的内在方面,注重对于"人"本的弘扬,突出"众生为本"、"以人为本"和重视人的"心",体现为对于众生的服务意识、对于人本身的生命意识和重视人的主观意志;在外在层面,注重对于"文"明的追求,分别从弃恶从善的道德追求、以和为贵的精神追求和人佛平等的境界追求等论述;"人"、"文"对现代和谐社会具有启示。     

Human books的评估标准与评估方式初探

文摘目前Human library在中国高校图书馆已经快速发展起来了,但是Human books是完全不同于普通图书借阅的全新阅读方式。因此,笔者从Human books的评估标准与评估方式上提出了一些建议供同仁探讨,希望能对这一全新阅读方式的发展与推广有所帮助。     

Role of Plasma MMP 9 levels in the Pathogenesis of Chronic Pancreatitis

Pancreatic fibrosis is a key pathological feature in the etiology of chronic pancreatitis that leads to obliteration of exocrine and endocrine pancreatic tissues and its replacement by fibrous tissue resulting in clinical manifestations. Matrix metalloproteinase 9 is a member of the MMP family that is also known as gelatinase B, degrades type IV collagen of extracellular matrix and basal membrane. The present study is aimed at evaluating the clinical significance of plasma concentration of MMP-9 in chronic pancreatitis. The samples were obtained from 112 chronic pancreatitis patients and an equal number of age and sex matched healthy controls. MMP-9 levels were quantitatively measured by ELISA assay. Statistical analysis was applied to test the significance of results. The present study revealed a significant increase of plasma MMP 9 levels in chronic pancreatitis patients compared to control subjects. Elevated levels were also observed in all the patient groups compared to control subjects with regard to sex, age, addictions etc. MMP-9 degrades the type IV collagens in normal basement membrane, which in turn activates the pancreatic stellate cells which promote the development of pancreatitic fibrosis. Thus, elevated plasma levels of MMP-9 may act as a susceptibility factor for the development of chronic pancreatitis.

江西科技人力资源对经济增长的贡献率研究

随着知识经济时代的到来,科技人力资源成为一个国家或地区最重要的战略资源之一。该文应用柯布—道格拉斯生产函数对2001—2008年江西省科技人力资源的贡献率作了实证研究,发现在此期间江西省科技人力资源存量迅猛增长,但其贡献率仍远远低于物资资本存量的贡献率,在此基础上,提出了加大江西省科技人力资源贡献率的政策建议。     

省市级科研院所人力资源管理信息化环境建设探析

省市级科研机构一直沿用的传统人事管理模式已不能适应新形势下人事工作的发展要求,由传统人事管理向现代人力资源管理转变的过程中,亟待探索符合当前省市级科研院所人力资源管理特点的工作模式,加强科研院所人力资源信息化内部环境建设,明确人力资源管理内涵,梳理工作流程,使传统的人事手工管理工作逐步被数字化、规范化、集成化的人力资源管理所取代。
