Information transfer in city government

Innovative research addressing information use patterns is needed to test theory which can serve as a conceptual framework for planning and evaluating information delivery systems. The research project reported here uses structured observation to examine information transfer patterns in city government. Results and implications for public libraries are reported.     

Faculty Expectations and the Adult Learner: Some Implications for Reference

Summary

In addition to the normal difficulties encountered when returning to the academic environment, adult students are expected to use a library that may be very different from the one they have used earlier. While some teaching faculty recognize that these students may need additional help to effectively use the library, others do not. This study investigated faculty expectations for adult students and the academic library. The majority of faculty surveyed believe students need instruction to develop familiarity with library resources and technology. Furthermore, the faculty are willing to work with librarians to ensure students gain these skills.     

The “Problem Patron” Public Libraries Created

Summary

Normal adolescents are generally suspect within public and retail settings in the U.S., thanks in part to relentless negative media coverage of the age group, and to adult fear and misreading of their appearance. These suspicions also occur in public libraries, with occasional justification, but an argument can be made that public libraries have created this problem for themselves through a set of often taken-for-granted service assumptions. This article addresses these assumptions, pointing out how they contribute to the creation of a “problem” class of users, and how they might be changed or adjusted to change the situation.     

广东省江门市成年人体质状况的调查研究

对参与2000年江门市体质测试的2071名成年人进行了分析。结果表明：江门市成年人总体达标率高于1997年的全省平均水平。女子体质略好于男子，青壮年体质略好于中老年；身商标准体重的指标较差，特别是超重较严重。     

对江苏省成人体质监测结果的几点思考

为全面贯彻落实<体育法>和<全民健身计划纲要>,江苏省首次在全省范围内对成人体质进行监测工作,通过抽样调查,获取了全省成人体质指标的第一手资料,掌握了全省成人体质的变化规律,为全民健身运动提供了科学根据.     

基于建构主义理论的成人英语教学方法初探

建构主义理论认为学习的过程应该是学习者作为学习活动的主体主动建构知识意义的过程。成人教育学员因其身份的特殊性,有很多与普通高校大学生不同的特点,通过对成人教育学员英语学习情况的调查,分析他们学习英语的动机、困境及自主学习的能力,从三个方面提出适合成人教育英语教学的方法。     

老年人防跌倒健身体操运动干预的实验研究*

目的 以核心力量训练理论为指导研制一套老年人防跌倒健身体操,并通过12周运动干预实验检验其效果。方法 以56名六七十岁老年人为研究对象。实验组分别在干预前、中(第4、8周)、后进行11项体适能测试。采用2(实验前、后)×2(实验组、对照组)重复测量的方差分析进行差异比较,并采用简单效应及多重比较检验实验组不同干预阶段的锻炼效果。结果 所有指标训练主效应×组间主效应的交互作用显著（P <0.01）,且实验组所有的测试结果在干预后均有显著提高（P <0.01）,但只有在运动干预的中期阶段是所有指标均有显著提高。结论 1）12周基于核心力量训练的健身体操运动干预能有效提高老年人的平衡能力、核心肌力等,对预防老年人跌倒具有积极作用;2）运动干预的中期对于改善老年人各项体适能具有重要意义。     

我国中西部部分地区成年人锻炼现状的调查分析

为了全面了解我国中西部地区成年人体质锻炼现状，有针对性地制定有关体育政策，对该地区成年人从参加体育活动的情况、每周用于体育的费用、体育锻炼的目的、体育锻炼的形式、体育锻炼的场所、体育锻炼的项目、影响体育锻炼的主要原因等7个方面进行了问卷调查并对其特点进行了分析。     

沈阳大学新民师范学院09级新生心理健康状况的调查研究

研究采用《症状自评量表SCL-90》对沈阳大学新民师范学院166名09级新生进行心理测量,分析发现：该届学生心理健康水平显著低于全国成人,而部分因子分高于国内某些高校大学生;大学生心理健康教育仍需进一步加强。
