Motivations for Library Use: Dover,Delaware, Library User Identity‐Motivation Pilot Study,December 2005

Under State Librarian Annie Norman, the Delaware Division of Libraries (DDL) has made notable progress in planning, measuring and advocating for programs and funds that have improved the libraries of that state. A visit to the state library's homepage (http://state.lib.de.us) immediately demonstrates the DDLS sense of purpose in the tagline motto, Delaware Libraries: Infrastructure + Capacity = Sustainability. DDL planning is ongoing, including a 2008 plan to move all the state's libraries forward in the critical areas of economic development, lifelong learning and health information. One document in this planning process was the 2005 pilot study to examine and categorize the motivations for why individuals use the public library. It is that study, a market segmentation study of the reasons why people use the library, that is published here. The study that is the basis for this report was produced under contract by the Institute for Learning Innovation (http://www.ilinet.org/display/ILI/Home). The study is based on two surveys: the first a “user interception survey” of 113 pre and post interviews collected at the Dover Public Library across 20 hours through one week in November of 2005. The second part of the study involved follow‐up telephone interviews with over 25 percent of those who had participated in the first study.     

变革与走向:共同探索图书馆的未来——北京大学图书馆建馆110周年国际研讨会暨PRDLA2012年年会综述

2012年11月4-6日,在北京大学图书馆建馆110周年庆典之际,"变革与走向:重新定义大学图书馆的未来"国际会议暨环太平洋数字图书馆联盟(PRDLA)2012年年会成功举办。来自美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、新西兰、荷兰、波兰、印度、新加坡、沙特阿拉伯、巴基斯坦等国家以及香港、澳门、台湾、大陆地区的高校图书馆界代表240多人参加了会议。会议主要研讨了6个当前图书馆界最关心的领域,分别是:战略规划与管理创新;数据管理与数据服务;社会媒体与共享空间;联盟、合作与共享;知识发现与学科服务;用户研究与服务推广。通过对会议6个专题20多位发言人的主要报告进行综述和分析,总结了此次国际会议的学术成果和相关专题研究的发展趋势。     

对高职院校电子商务项目实践教学的思考与实践

强化实践教学是保证高职教育特色的重要措施。本文从实践教学体系和运行机制的分析入手,总结了长江职业学院电子商务专业实践教学体系的建设思路,并提出了实施实践教学的具体措施。     

高校后勤保障机制的创新与思考

本文从我国高校后勤保障机制所面临的新挑战、新形势入手,根据国家对高校后勤保障机制社会化改革的具体思路和指导意见,侧重阐述了高校后勤保障机制创新的理论基础及其重要性。最后,结合我国高校后勤改革与发展现状,提出了高校后勤保障机制创新的几点思考,并得出了随着我国社会主义市场经济的不断完善和国际化程度的逐渐提高,高校后勤服务要在日趋激烈的市场竞争环境中求得生存与发展,就必须不断地提高其现代化的管理水平和完善其系统化的保障机制。     

知识分子的心理特点与新时期党建工作

分析了新时期高校教育体制改革下三种类型知识分子群体的共性心理和个性心理特点。从不同类型知识分子群体面临的心理压力角度出发,探讨了目前党建工作存在的问题,提出了尊重知识分子的社会价值,鼓励知识分子的首创精神,发挥知识分子的职业专长,构建高校党建工作新格局的建议。     

Impact of Hands‐On Research Experience on Students’ Learning in an Introductory Management Information System Course

Although students in Introductory Information Systems courses are taught new technology concepts, the complexity and constantly changing nature of these technologies makes it challenging to deliver the concepts effectively. Aiming to improve students’ learning experiences, this research utilized the five phases of design science methodology to develop an experiment to solve a real‐world problem, and then implemented it in an undergraduate classroom. As part of their classwork, students participated as subjects testing new information technologies to solve a real‐world problem. They were asked to complete a questionnaire and answer questions in a focus group to assess the effectiveness of the technologies tested and determine whether the experience had added to the learning they gained from the course. The results revealed that the students were able to use the new technologies effectively and provide useful feedback to the company sponsoring the study, contributing to the release of a new commercial product line. Students also reported that participating in this research project improved their satisfaction with the introductory MIS course. These results encourage educators to conduct hands‐on experience involving real‐world research projects since they provide valuable additional learning opportunities in introductory MIS courses.

论我国大学图书馆的服务创新

创新．是社会发展、时代进步的永恒主题,作为大学的重要组成部分的图书馆,其发展亦离不开创新。只有持续不断地创新,大学的图书馆才能保持服务工作的先进性、特色化、可持续。当今社会,创新服务工作的内容、方式、途径已成为大学图书馆发展的主旋律。大学图书馆应该从创新服务理念、创新服务内容、创新服务机制、创新服务方式等四方面来创新自己的服务工作。     

“互联网+”创新驱动制造业发展研究

创新是驱动经济发展的核心关键。为探究"互联网+"创新如何驱动制造业发展,从"互联网+"创新驱动制造业发展的运行机制、运行模式和发展途径等方面,提出"创新互联网平台"和"智慧创新元"的概念,深入研究"互联网+"创新驱动制造业的演化发展。"互联网+"创新是一种全新的创新模式,可以彻底改变传统的创新模式,变革制造业的组织模式,驱动制造业关键技术跨越发展,实现制造业转型升级。研究结论具有一定的理论和实践意义,以期为制造业发展提供参考和借鉴。     

Organizational climate and its influence on brokers’ knowledge transfer activities: A structural equation modeling

The purpose of this paper is to gain a better understanding of the processes involved in transferring knowledge into action. Obviously an interesting subject of research, it is worthwhile delving into the role played by knowledge brokers in bridging the gap between research and practice. This paper investigates the relationship between organizational climate and brokers’ knowledge transfer activities. The structural equation model was tested, using survey data from 301 respondents who primarily carry out their professional activities in health services, such as knowledge brokers. The results suggest two major findings: first, that the organizational climate as a multidimensional concept has a direct positive impact on the brokers’ knowledge transfer activities; secondly, that the organizational climate, characterized by the autonomy granted to brokers and a cooperative climate play an indirect role in affecting the knowledge transfer activities through the mediation of the organizational support provided to brokers.
