Managing Health Care in Oregon: The Search for a Civic Bioethics

Managed health care deliberations in Oregon point to a "civic bioethics" model to resolve allocation issues through publicly articulated community values and priorities that influence legislative action. Communication practices in the Oregon experiment provide data to develop an evaluative framework to assess public moral deliberation in value-laden contexts such as health care distribution. The Oregon experience also points to dialogical virtues to heighten citizens' ethical sensibilities and political will, discursive tools to inform ethical communication practices in a civic bioethics model.     

Collaboration Between the University of Michigan Taubman Health Sciences Library and the University of Michigan Medical School Office of Research

Librarians have traditionally facilitated research development resulting in grants through performing biomedical literature searches for researchers. The librarians at the Taubman Health Sciences Library of the University of Michigan have taken additional steps forward by instituting a proactive approach to assisting investigators. To accomplish this, the librarians have taken part in a collaborative effort with the University of Michigan Medical School Office of Research. Through this partnership, both units have created and adopted various techniques intended to facilitate the submission of grants, thus allowing researchers more time to conduct their primary activities.

A loophole of retreat? Predominately White institutions as paradoxical spaces for high achieving African American women

Abstract

High achieving Black female students attending predominately-White institutions (PWIs) are stereotyped as being strong willed and celebrated for their resilience. On the surface, these narratives seem to compliment African American students for doing well. However, strong-Black-woman depictions trivialize the racism and sexism these women experience. Utilizing Black feminist geographic theory, I argue that colleges and universities can be “paradoxical spaces” for academically successful Black women: The sense of accomplishment that comes from performing at peak levels often gets undercut by the marginalization these women face on campus. Qualitative, open-ended interviews of 20 participants attending a large Midwestern PWI demonstrate that high achieving African American women relish the intellectual challenges of their academic pursuits, yet they also deal with intense feelings of isolation and frustration.

民办继续教育培训机构教学质量动态评估方法研究

人们对教育的重视助推着近几年来教育培训市场的井喷式发展。为了防止民办培训机构为降低成本而牺牲教学质量,亟需寻找适当的评价教学质量的方法。基于此,使用产生式规则收集各项教学质量评估项,由此转化成模糊Petri网表示的教学质量评定规则体系,提供了一种民办继续教育培训教学质量评估动态评估体系的解决思路和操作办法,能使教学质量评估结果更有项目针对性和科学性。     

我国公共图书馆服务体系制度设计若干基本问题辩正

论文探讨了中国当代公共图书馆服务体系制度设计方面存在的认识分歧和理论争议,主张今后的制度设计应正确处理好国际借鉴与本土创新、系统管理与公共治理、公平目标与效率追求、局部创新与整体配套等基本关系,积极引领和保障我国公共图书馆服务体系的科学发展。     

国外公共信息服务研究述评

论文选取Web of Science数据库进行数据检索,利用CiteSpaceⅡ和SATI分析工具对国外近五十年公共信息服务研究的论文进行定量统计,发现国外公共信息服务研究比较分散,大多为孤立研究,持续跟踪研究较少,并侧重于用户、服务机构、管理政策以及服务评估这四方面.通过对近十五年国外公共信息服务进展的分析,为我国公共信息服务领域的研究和发展提供有价值的借鉴.     

The third sector and the governance of education

This article explores the nature, scope and form of third-sector involvement in education in New Zealand as demonstrated through a comparison of its relationship with the state in two distinct periods of state and educational development. It begins with an analysis of the period of state expansion from crown colony to centralised administration in the mid-1870s. It then examines the relationship in the decade following the restructuring of education in 1989, as the neoliberal state negotiated economic changes at the national and supranational levels, and challenges to the existing educational organisation from both the political left and the political right. Although an almost mirror image of nineteenth-century arrangements is identified, the nature of the state/third-sector relationship was vastly different as a smaller, but nonetheless stronger, state retained control over the governance of education and, with it, possibilities and limitations for third-sector involvement.

从体育经济学和体育管理学的视域出发,对公共财政、公共体育产品、公共体育服务的概念与内涵进行阐述。遵循层次递进的逻辑思维定式,探寻三个概念之间内在联系,从探讨现行公共体育财政制度对体育经济的制约作用为前提,分别对公共体育产品非政府供给和强化公共体育服务两个层面进行分析,以此推动政府管理体育模式的变革,进而完善我国体育体制。
