A Study Exploring Learners' Informal Learning Space Behaviors,Attitudes, and Preferences

What makes a successful informal learning space is a topic in need of further research. The body of discourse on informal space design is drawn from learning theory, placemaking, and architecture, with a need for understanding of the synergy between the three. Findings from a longitudinal, quantitative, and qualitative study at Sheffield Hallam University, explore learners' behaviors, attitudes, and preferences toward informal learning spaces in higher education, within and outside of the context of the academic library. The learning spaces study contributes to the discourse on informal learning spaces design by producing a typology of nine learning space preference attributes which address aspects of learning theory, placemaking, and architecture. The typology can be used to evaluate existing spaces and inform redevelopment of informal learning spaces in higher education institutions. Implementing the typology will be subject to localized conditions, but at Sheffield Hallam University the key conclusions have included developing a portfolio of discrete, interrelated learning environments, offering spaces with a clear identity and encouraging students to translate their learning preferences into space selection.     

Librarians Do It Differently: Comparative Usability Testing with Students and Library Staff

Usability testing on library search tools was conducted with ten students and eighteen library staff members at Syracuse University. The study addressed three research questions: (1) Do the ways in which librarians carry out search tasks on the library Web site vary from those of student users?; (2) Are those variations indicative of different mental models, i.e. different experience with and knowledge about the content and search tools on the Web site?; and (3) If there are differences, what are the implications of those different models for the usability of the site by students? Participants were tasked by using the library's Web site to locate both known items and items about a subject in the library's collection. The two groups differed in the success with which they were able to complete the tasks, as well as the time used. There were differences in the selection of search tools, the syntax used within the search box, the expectations of how library resources are organized, and the level of persistence as tasks were performed. Students’ behavior is characteristic of different mental models for how search tools work. The results are applicable to the design of the library's Web site and have implications for how library staff conduct reference and instruction services.     

天津市民低碳建筑意识与相关行为的调查分析

通过问卷调查的方式得到天津市民在低碳建筑概念认知、旧房改造与低碳建筑购买相关行为的数据,分析得出天津市民低碳建筑意识与行为的相关特点与阻碍因素,发现存在：市民对低碳建筑概念认识有偏差,缺少对相关政策的了解,中青年人购买低碳建筑动力不足以及对低碳建筑技术与认证不放心等问题。本调查在问题的基础上提出了相关的宣传与推动发展的建议。     

论中等职业教育中德育建设的重要性--以涪陵信息技术学校“自立教育”对学生行为的影响为例

中等职业教育不仅在于培养学生的职业技术水平,更要致力于学生的德育建设。而德育水平的高低又集中体现在学生行为活动上。本文以我校独特的“自立教育”对学生行为活动的影响为例,来探讨职业教育中德育建设的重要性。     

知识领地行为视角下个体知识向组织知识转移的研究

个体知识向组织知识的转移是企业形成并保持竞争优势的关键。探讨了组织内个体知识向组织知识转移的最大障碍是知识嵌入在个体中并在组织中形成了专属的知识领地,进而研究如何引导员工打破知识领地,使个体向组织进行知识转移,最后提出通过内、外部激励的方式,并考虑"激励拥挤"的效果,以改变个体领地的预期性防卫与反应性防卫,促进知识转移意愿的产生。     

用户信息安全行为研究述评

简要介绍了国际上用户信息安全行为研究发展历史,从主体、客体、性质和后果等层面梳理了用户信息安全行为的概念内涵,探讨了用户信息安全行为分类和结构维度,从信息安全意识、动机、领导力、信息安全文化等角度出发分析了用户信息安全行为影响效果和机制,归纳总结了用户信息安全行为干预措施;最后,指出该领域进一步值得探索的问题。     

(7) Need for a Municipal Library System for the City of Calcutta

Abstract

A study of the development of third generation Nigerian university libraries established between 1980-1984 was conducted during the latter part of the 1990/91 session. The study, which was carried out through the use of a questionnaire, personal visits, as well as informal discussions with the staff, had the objective of determining the similarities and dissimilarities in the growth of the libraries using indices such as governance, finance, stock and services, etc., as well as problems affecting their effective performance. The outcome of the study showed that there are more areas of similarities than dissimilarities in the ways they operate. Poor funding, scarcity of foreign exchange for the purchase of library materials from abroad, near absence of modern information retrieval technologies as well as theft and mutilation of materials, were found to constitute major problems to their rapid development. The recently negotiated World Bank loan for the Nigerian university sector designed to inject some US$120m for the purchase of books, journals and library equipment among others gives a ray of hope, though on a short-term basis. It is suggested that to take the university libraries out of the woods, massive injection of funds on a long-term basis is required.

浅析抽象行政行为的司法审查

随着我国入世，国际社会对我国的行政法治提出了更高层次的要求。在实行依法治国、依法行政的今天，对于原来纳入司法审查的抽象行政行为，笔者以为宜对其进行探讨研究，允许对其进行司法审查。     

“道德人”还是“经济人”:中国扶贫制度中的人性困惑

新中国成立以来,我国反贫困取得了辉煌的胜利,为世界反贫困作出了巨大贡献。我国的扶贫制度设计主要是建立在"道德人"的人性假设基础上的,从而导致了扶贫过程中的权力不受监督以及民主的缺失,进而降低了扶贫绩效。在市场经济的冲击下,基于"道德人"的制度安排因扶贫实践中出现的各种不端以及腐败行为而失去解释力,使得以"经济人"的属性来看待政府扶贫行为成为必要。当前,重要的工作是建立和完善扶贫绩效评估制度、扶贫参与制度和扶贫权力约束制度,以进一步规范扶贫行动。
