Multimedia and Online Video Case Studies for Preservice Teacher Preparation

Case studies have been used successfully as a part of teacher education. There are many possibilities in extending the impact of case studies through the use of technology. Video and the Internet could enable demonstration of more examples, dissemination beyond the walls of the classroom, and discussion between geographically dispersed preservice teachers. Several projects are now investigating the possible ways that technology might enhance or extend text case studies. After exploring four existing products, four essential elements for video case studies are proposed. As video case studies move to the Internet, additional issues arise and these are also explored.

电子媒介时代儿童文学的文化价值

电子媒介时代,儿童文学在建构儿童理想世界,呵护童年生命,塑造并促进社会“新人类”成长方面有着不可忽视的作用。儿童文学还为成人保留一个美好的童年,而这个童年是成人可以回归的精神家园,同时,儿童文学还可以实现成人与儿童的精神对话,并且某种程度上儿童文学也是成人的抵抗的文化政治,即面对被消解了主体精神的世界,面对被工具理性而剥离了灵与肉的社会,面对被横流的物欲而泯灭了求真爱美之心的社会,成人有可能借助儿童文学来实现他对现实世界的抵制和建设的文化理想。     

精神损害的国家赔偿责任

精神损害的国家赔偿是国际上许多国家和地区的立法趋势,而我国的《国家赔偿法》却并没有对此做出相应的金钱或者物质赔偿的规定。面对现实生活中行政权的滥用,为了确保公民的权利得到有效的保障,构建国家赔偿中的精神损害赔偿制度是中国法律发展的必然目标。     

制度理性与全球伦理

如今人们忙于建构全球伦理, 却不去拷问它源于何处和其价值义理归趣。本文从普遍的源起出发, 认为普遍性就蕴育着理性主义。而全球伦理萌发于理想与制度理性的内在紧张关系, 为了摆脱制度理性给社会带来的暴力和禁锢, 人们寻找离政治意识形态较远,而对人性又比较亲和的伦理问题, 作为解决它们内在紧张之路向。因此, 全球伦理之起点是对制度理性所设制的专制主义不满, 把制度理性可表述的框架放大, 为制度理性提供更广阔的发展空间。由此观之, 全球伦理之萌生, 既是制度理性自发性进化结果, 又是普遍主义理想与制度理性关系筹划的产物。     

A very English revolution: the impacts of co-residence at the University of Oxford

ABSTRACT

This paper examines the impacts of co-residence (admitting women to men’s colleges and men to women’s colleges) at the University of Oxford beginning in the 1970s. Co-residence increased the representation of women undergraduates at Oxford to near parity with men; the representation of women in academic positions rose but not as substantially as that of women undergraduates and postgraduates and today women comprise still only a third of academics in the colleges of the university; the fellowships of the former female colleges became genuinely mixed, the fellowships of the former male colleges more slowly; women are less likely to be appointed head of a former men’s college than are men to be appointed head of a former women’s college; the quality of Oxford undergraduates rose with the increased number of female undergraduates; and the quality of undergraduates in the former male colleges rose at the expense of the female colleges.     

对《黄遵宪集》的补遗与正误

2003年10月,天津人民出版社出版的由南开大学吴振清、徐勇等先生编校整理的《黄遵宪集》,是目前收录黄遵宪诗文最全面的集子,编者尽了最大努力广搜博采,采择的范围遍及海内外,但还是不免遗珠之憾。对个别散佚的黄遵宪作品,编者未能参校更好的版本出处,也未能最大限度地利用已有成果,因此而造成参校有所疏误。通过对《黄遵宪集》的补遗与正误,以方便同道更全面了解至目前为止黄遵宪诗文的存佚情况。     

Pedagogical and technological augmentation of mobile learning for young children interactive learning environments

The ubiquity and educational potential of mobile applications are well acknowledged. This paper proposes six theory-based, pedagogical strategies to guide interaction design of mobile apps for young children. Also, to augment the capabilities of mobile devices, we used a humanoid robot integrated with a smartphone and developed an English-learning app that applied the design strategies to this environment. Our observations of children's one-on-one use support the promise of the strategies and the combined use of robots and mobile devices to be a viable option to help optimize mobile learning.     

Participatory creativities: developing a research design for children’s pastoral encounters with the natural world

ABSTRACT

In this paper, the author discusses the interrelationship between creativity, children’s experiences of the natural world and pastoral education. Based on a research design developed whilst undertaking a professional doctorate in education (EdD), and grounded in a theoretical framework of children’s rights, the author explores the creative uncertainties of collaboratively researching children’s educational experiences with nature. The paper considers the ways in which the research design supports a pastoral care agenda, whilst encouraging the emergence of ‘creative artefacts’, alongside the extent to which the focus of the research, encounters with the natural world, might be deemed pastorally minded in its own right. The children who have participated in the research then draw the paper to a close, sharing what their involvement in the project has meant to them. Images and excerpts of children’s own creative reflections are offered as illustration of the powerful confluence of the Creative and the Pastoral.
