浅谈杜威反省思维与教学方法的思想

杜威重视儿童思维能力的培养 ,认为学校的教学活动应该唤起儿童的思维 ,他的反省思维、“思维五步”和“教学五步”的思想 ,对我们不无启示。     

The Arts and Open‐Mindedness

Open‐mindedness is typically considered an intellectual virtue that brings humans into (closer) contact with reality and its complexities. In this essay, Susan Verducci expands the ways we typically think of cultivating open‐mindedness in classrooms to include the practice of engagement with the visual and performing arts. Working with the arts allows students and teachers to perceive and embody realities they would not normally experience. Specifically, the arts enable the drawing forth and exploration of multiple and subjective interpretations; the arts can therefore be uniquely productive in opening minds by helping one negotiate human perceptual constraints, by providing opportunities to enter standpoints other than one's own, and by encouraging the practice of living with uncertainty and ambiguity.

约翰.柯里尔的短篇小说《追逐者》讲述了一位年轻男子为了追逐爱情,不惜去寻求爱情水,以求获得其可望而不可得的爱情的故事。该短篇小说言非所指的话语技巧令读者折服,通过从言语反讽、戏剧反讽和情景反讽三个方面的具体分析,运用文本分析法,突出反讽艺术在短篇小说中的关键性,以使读者能更好的体味小说的艺术造诣。     

The De Kretser case: a note on Sri Lankan writing in English

Abstract

How is the content of a literary canon, or tradition to be configured? What counts as a literary archive? More than 25 years after Edward Said’s Orientalism (1978 Said, W. Edward. 1978. Orientalism, New York: Vintage.  [Google Scholar]), it seems reasonable to assume, that central to such traditions, would be the work of those who live and work in the society that gives rise to it. In this review, such a location of Michele de Kretser’s new novel, The Hamilton Case, is offered, as a caution to metropolitan literary critics who continue to approach Sri Lankan writing in English, as Christopher Columbus approached ‘America’. It is argued that the novel owes much to, and can be read as echoing and elaborating the detective fiction of S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike, who was, also, the fourth Prime Minister of Ceylon (Sri Lanka), 1956–59.

何谓“自由”教育——马克范多伦（Mark Van Doren）的人文教育理念简论

＂Liberal Education＂一词的意义在西方教育界早已有定论,一般较为人熟知的中文翻译是＂人文教育＂。美国上世纪30年代,大学教育弥漫＂实用＂之风,此时保守的学者有感当代教育重专业技能而轻人文课程的危机,乃重新诠释＂人文教育＂的内涵,并致力于人文课程的设计。这些学者中,上世纪40年代曾获得普利策诗人奖的美国哥伦比亚大学马克范多伦教授,结合诗人感性的笔触与自己投身教育的经验,写成著名的《人文教育》一书,他极力主张教育不只是改造社会的工具,更应进一步提供如何精炼人性的必要途径。他这种与当时宣称沿袭＂进步主义＂而号称自由派学者的对立思维,使他成为美国人文教育最有影响力的代言人之一,本文主要介绍他的教育理念,并阐述西方人文教育的本质与传统。

目前,对约翰·高尔斯华绥作品的研究大部分集中在对其现实主义的分析上,该文将从后殖民理论这一新的角度对其短篇小说《品质》进行重新解读,通过描述在后殖民语境下,处于弱势文化的少数族群在构建自我身份问题上所经历的人生路程以及其在后殖民文化下的生存困境,来分析作品中所体现出的超越种族的世界关怀。
