An analysis of Ph.D. examiners’ reports in engineering

In recent years, there have been increasing calls for an overall transformation of the nature of engineering Ph.D. programs and the way theses are assessed. There exists a need to understand the examination process to ensure the best quality outcome for candidates in engineering. The work we present in this paper uses data collected between 2003 and 2010 for a total of 1220 Australian Ph.D. theses by analysing examiner reports. Our analysis indicates that Ph.D. theses in engineering, N?=?106, differ considerably from those in other fields in areas such as gender of candidates and examiners and the examiners’ geographical location. We also found that assessment areas such as significance and contribution of the thesis, publications arising from the thesis, breadth, depth and recency of the literature review and communication and editorial correctness are areas in which the proportion of text of engineering examiners' comments differs significantly from other fields.

Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry: A Culturally Specific, Subversive Concept of Child Agency

This article is a critique of Mildred D. Taylor's Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry with regard to its positioning of the child subject. I propose that the novel contrasts classic works of children's fiction by following a trajectory of child agency, which is enabled through the novel's racial specificity. The adults in the novel teach the children, but they do so in a way that encourages autonomous action. Subversive child agency is enabled in the novel through the demystification of history and the unveiling of power structures. In the process, the child characters become agents of resistance.     

劳伦斯的教育观及其启示——读《恋爱中的女人》

劳伦斯在《恋爱中的女人》中阐述了多种观点,国内评论界对这部小说涵义的阐释主要集中在自我观,爱情婚姻观及妇女观,而作品中呈现的教育观几乎无人观照。而这一作品所具有的呼吁教育改革的意识,微妙地揭露了19世纪末20世纪初英国教育制度的弊端和教育理念的滞后。劳伦斯在《恋爱中的女人》中所倡导的“完善人格,培养个性,全面发展”的教育思想为教育改革提供了思路,与我国正在实施的素质教育极其默契。     

基于Proteus的单片机A/D转换仿真实验

A/D转换器是一种能把输入模拟电压或电流变成与其成正比的数字量的电路芯片,它广泛应用在单片机的前向输入通道中。文章采用ADC0804单通道8位并行接口芯片作为A/D转换器完成数据转换,控制器使用美国ATMEL公司的增强型AT89C52单片机,对转换完成后得到的数字量经过单片机P1口输出到8个LED发光二极管上显示。使用KeilC51编程软件,编译成功后,用Proteus仿真软件设计电路原理图,实现A/D转换过程并显示转换结果。     

基于L-M算法的机械臂三维超声图像标定方法

为了在三维超声成像中获得更多、更详细的位置信息,得到更准确的定位精度,采用机械臂夹持超声探头并利用L-M算法进行超声图像标定。标定过程中,通过将N线模板放在水槽中,从而得到更准确的定位装置接收器与超声图像之间的位置转换关系,利用六自由度机械臂控制超声探头水平移动扫描模板以获取超声图像,并利用区域提取与缺陷分割技术获得图像中的像素坐标,以及扫描点在模板中对应的实际坐标,最后运用L-M算法进行标定计算,获得所需的标定转换矩阵。实验结果证明,该方法简单易行且效率较高,提高了标定精度,可满足实际检测精度需求,避免了手动扫描误差,为后续三维重建奠定了基础。     

磷脂酶D在UV-B诱导的蚕豆气孔关闭中的作用

主要研究磷脂酶D在UV-B辐射诱导气孔关闭中的作用.结果显示:UV-B辐射能够诱导蚕豆气孔关闭.磷脂酶D的专一性抑制剂,1-正丁醇能够逆转UV-B辐射诱导的气孔关闭;1-正丁醇能够部分逆转SNP(NO外源供体)诱导的气孔关闭.结果表明:磷脂酶D可能参与了UV-B辐射诱导的蚕豆气孔关闭,且磷脂酶D可能介导了一氧化氮(NO)在UV-B辐射诱导气孔关闭中的作用.
