MOOCs in teacher education: institutional and pedagogical change?

We study the implementation of a MOOC initiative which involved two distinct teacher education institutions at HEIs, and where the implementation was led by a governmental body. Our aim was to see in what ways this initiative changed the teacher education involved, in terms of institutional organisation and pedagogics. Based on interviews with stakeholders from the government and from the two HEIs, we found that the process of implementing and piloting the MOOC faced various sorts of resistance. Our study might serve as a contribution to researchers and practitioners involved in development and running MOOCs as cross institutional initiatives, in that it addresses the diversity of challenges new study models are facing within HEIs. It may also be of interest to teacher education departments responsible for continuing education programs, since it demonstrates the opportunities that comes with a MOOC to provide larger groups of in-service teachers with new educational possibilities.

为适应移动技术的进步,手机等便携式小型电子设备日益普及,移动学习的教学模式快速发展。基于移动学习理论,阐述了移动学习在外语教学实践中的应用原则,提出外语教学的多种移动学习方式,构想支撑移动学习模式的外语移动教学资源平台。移动学习模式对传统外语教学带来了挑战,这些挑战对改进传统外语教学提供了参考和借鉴。     

大规模网络开放课程（MOOC）典型项目特征分析及启示

从2012年开始,以在线课程为核心的互联网公司纷纷涌现并获得飞速发展。大规模网络开放课程（MOOC）为学习者提供了一种新的知识获取渠道和学习模式,成为网络时代人们学习的新途径。通过梳理和总结MOOC发展的历史,并对MOOC初步分析的基础上,选择七个国外典型的MOOC项目作为分析对象,根据对各项目的基本信息进行内容分析确定关键词,从组织机制、平台定位、课程组织、课程资源、教学方式和质量认证六个方面,归纳大规模网络开放课程项目的主要特点,并从运营机制、课程开发、学生参与和学习评价四个方面提出指导我国开放教育资源进一步发展的启示。     

战“疫”期间大规模在线教育实践的效果和潜在影响因素分析——以湖北省孝感市为例

战“疫”期间的“停课不停学”是一场全社会协同的大规模在线教育实践,会对未来在线教育产生重大影响。对湖北省孝感市开展大规模调查,从组织管理、平台与工具、资源应用、教学内容、家校共育和满意度等方面调查实践效果,发现经过一段时间的探索和实践,战“疫”期间大规模在线教育实践在教育行政部门指导与引领、学校落实与行动、师生探索与适应、教育信息化企业支持与服务、家庭合作与参与等方面取得了一定成效,但在线教育的理念、在线教育的保障与供给、师生素养与能力、教育信息化企业服务水平与质量、家校共育等仍是影响在线教育发展的潜在因素。     

Instructor-provided summary infographics to support online learning

Infographics are a visualisation tool that can be used to improve retention, comprehension and appeal of complex concepts. The rise of infographic use in education has facilitated new forms of application and design of these tools. Instructor-provided summary infographics are a new form of infographic, whereby key learning objectives and content are summarised in graphical form at the end of a lesson. However, it is unknown whether these types of infographics can support learning in online environments. This exploratory research investigates student perceptions, retention, applications and activity generation of instructor-provided summary infographics in a massive online learning environment. Using both post-course learner survey data (n = 1,899) and text mining analysis (n = 72,490 words), results present how learners perceived instructor-provided summary infographics as useful and appealing for retaining, clarifying and understanding learning concepts. The research contributes a novel understanding of summary infographics in online learning environments, and supports their use as a design tool for educational delivery in the online space.     

Fixing higher education through technology: Canadian media coverage of massive open online courses

The popularization of massive open online courses (MOOCs) has been shrouded in promises of disruption and radical change in education. In Canada, official partnerships struck by higher education institutions with platform providers such as Coursera, Udacity and edX were publicized by dailies and professional magazines. This print coverage of MOOCs captures the contemporary ideological struggle over the meaning of both technology and higher education. By means of a thematic analysis of the English Canadian print coverage of MOOCs (2012–2014), this paper shows that both online educational technologies and higher education are constructed through an economic frame. However, this frame does not go unchallenged. Where newspapers construct MOOCs as an easy fix for an allegedly inefficient and outdated higher education system, professional magazines question the relationship between technology, higher education and money. These different representations point to the efforts of academic communities to develop alternative social imaginaries of education as public good within a dominant neoliberal framing of MOOCs and of the higher education system. In conclusion, the paper reflects on how the academic community can create alternative discursive spaces by shifting the discussion of MOOCs from economic concerns to civic goals.

从专业组织的发展动向、理论研究的最新进展出发,阐述高校图书馆参与大规模开放在线课程（MOOC）进程的必要性,并分别从高校与MOOC供应商的角度论述其可行性。同时,对国外有关图书馆在MOOC实践中承担的资源向导、版权清理、信息素养教育、课程制作与管理、创新服务等作用的研究进行归纳,旨在为我国高校图书馆融入MOOC发展提供参考与启示。     

MOOC热的冷思考——国际上对MOOCs课程教学六大问题的审思

近几年,简称为MOOC的大规模开放在线课程席卷世界高等教育,成为教育研究者关注的焦点问题。但遗憾的是,目前国内相关研究和报道赞扬多,批评少,较系统深入的客观反思性研究则更少见。为此,从“问题的视角”出发．对近年来国内外尤其是美国的学术文献、研究报告、报刊杂志和博客文章进行梳理研究,着重分析了当前MOOC课程完成率不高、教学模式圆于传统、难以实现个性化学习、学习体验缺失、学习效果难以评估、学习成果缺乏认证六个主要问题,以期为MOOC炒作降温、化激情赞扬为冷静审视,把握在线教育发展进程中理想与现实的结合点。
