An Examination of Media Usage among French-Muslims

Media help in the formation of identity. For ethnic communities, ethnic media can play a dual role, aiding in the acculturation process and assisting in holding onto ethnic identities. This study examines media and identity negotiation. Specifically, this study analyzes differences in media usage among French-Muslims. The principal researcher interviewed 42 first and second generation French-Muslims to explore their media usage and the relationships between their media usage and ethnic identification. Analysis uncovered two key findings. First, second-generation French-Muslims prefer to use ethnic media more than French produced media as a form of protest against French assimilationist policies. Second, abandoning ethnic media is equated with becoming French, which is something first and second generation French-Muslims resist.     

How Should I Respond to Them? An Emergent Categorization of Responses to Interpersonally Communicated Stereotypes

Political correctness defines stereotypes as inappropriate to communicate. However, responses that interpersonally communicated stereotypes receive in conversation may collaboratively produce a different meaning about the appropriateness of stereotype use. The current research reports two studies that explore responses to interpersonally communicated stereotypes and the role these responses play in the perpetuation of stereotypes. This project contributes qualitative research in intercultural communication that exposes a variety of tolerant response types available to communicators and demonstrates how these responses are managed interactionally in ways that show tolerance for communicated stereotypes.     

“Fear God; Fear the Bogaze”: The Nile Mouths and the Navigational Landscape of the Medieval Nile Delta,Egypt

By the fourth/tenth century, Egypt's Nile Delta had just two major Delta branches debouching directly into the Mediterranean – the Dumyā? (Damietta) and Rashīd (Rosetta). Navigational conditions at these branches’ mouths were treacherous because of a combination of currents, winds, wave-fields and shifting sandbanks. These conditions were a danger to shipping, and so had a formative effect on the navigational landscape of the Delta. Despite its remoteness from the Nile, Alexandria remained Egypt's chief Mediterranean port, but only because river connections were maintained that avoided the Rashīd mouth. In contrast, the port of Rashīd was relatively insignificant. Similar conditions at the Dumyā? mouth prompted navigators to adopt routes via Lake Tinnīs, modern Lake Manzala, which linked to the sea through its calmer sea mouths. This article brings together material from multiple disciplines to offer a new understanding of the navigational context of Egypt's medieval Mediterranean ports.

基于TI公司的DSP芯片TMS320F2812,对其外围电路进行设计,实现一个数字控制的硬件系统,并在此基础上进行相应的软件设计,最终实现一个相对完整的数字控制系统。

党的二十大胜利召开开启了中国式现代化建设的新征程,被赋注新生命力的中国式现代化必将为中国体育的发展注入崭新能量。在梳理现代化理论内涵的基础上,探析中国式现代化的时代特色和本质要求,建构“中国式现代化体育”的内涵结构。研究表明,中国式现代化体育的价值体系包括把握人民至上的根本立场全力发展全民体育和推动体育全面发展、把握公平共享的本质要求维护和实现人民美好体育生活向往、把握协调发展的重要导向推动中国体育精神的传承与弘扬、把握和谐共生的核心支撑开辟体育强国“绿色”新境界、把握和平发展的关键前提推进中国与世界共享体育和谐之美五个方面的内容,它们之间的相互作用和相互影响形塑了新时代中国体育自有的、独特的逻辑框架。研究目的旨在为中国体育适应新时代中国式现代化发展路向、推动实现体育强国战略目标提供学理支持。     

北京奥运会和山东全运会男子1500米自由泳前三名战术探讨

1500米自由泳是竞技游泳项目中距离最长的项目。运动员在各分段中速度变化的具体表现能够客观反应其比赛战术。本文运用文献分析法、录像观察法对北京奥运会和山东全运会1500米自由泳决赛运动员的战术进行分析和探讨,分析得出长距离游泳战术类型分为前慢后快、前快后慢、相随、匀速和变速共五种战术。前慢后快战术和变速战术是世界级游泳运动员的常规战术之一。我国游泳运动员应加强后半程的游进能力,加强战术模拟训练,提升赛扬的战术执行能力。
