Teacher commitment and its effects on student achievement in American high schools

This study explored the effects of teacher commitment on student achievement. Three teacher commitment dimensions of organizational, professional, and student commitment were derived. The three-dimensional teacher commitment measurement model was tested by a confirmatory factor analysis. Then, the relationships among individual and organizational variables, teacher commitment, and student achievement were analyzed by a 2-level hierarchical linear modeling method. As the results, the greater portions of teacher commitment and student achievement variances were within schools. The individual and organizational variables had differential impacts on each teacher commitment dimension. Finally, while teacher commitment effects on student achievement were differentially found depending on teacher commitment dimensions at the individual level, there was no evidence to support significant impacts of teacher commitment on student achievement at the organizational level.

How to combine objectives and methods of evaluation in iterative ILE design: lessons learned from designing Ambre-add

This article deals with evaluating an interactive learning environment (ILE) during the iterative-design process. Various aspects of the system must be assessed and a number of evaluation methods are available. In designing the ILE Ambre-add, several techniques were combined to test and refine the system. In particular, we point out the merits of combining measures of the ILE's impact on learning with analyses of the learner's activity. In this article, the approach used to evaluate Ambre-add is described and analyzed, and its advantages and disadvantages are discussed. Then, a general procedure for evaluating ILEs during iterative design is proposed.

晁错是汉代文景时期最重要的大臣之一,他的思想直接影响了文景之治。文章在对晁错思想和齐法家之《管子》进行对比的基础上,分析了《管子》对晁错的影响。进而探讨了晁错接受《管子》的主要原因:一、在"过秦"思潮下,晁错对晋法家思想的矫弊;二、齐学在汉代的兴起;三、晁错受《尚书》等儒家典籍的影响,对晋法家进行了中和。     

变译理论视角下宁夏旅游景区公示语英译探析

随着宁夏旅游业的繁荣发展,越来越多的外国游客到宁夏一览风光,尤其是随着中国-阿拉伯国家经贸论坛在宁夏银川的成功举办,大大提升了宁夏在西北地区的重要地位,为了更好地加强宁夏与国外的文化交流,促进贸易往来,旅游景区的公示语翻译就显得尤为重要。该文以变译理论为指导对宁夏旅游景区公示语英译文进行研究,以变译理论的两个要点：读者对译文的理解及接受和译者主体性的充分发挥为指导,探讨宁夏旅游景区公示语英译存在的问题以及变译理论为宁夏旅游景区公示语英译在实际操作方面具有的重要现实意义。     

多理论视角下企业云ERP系统转换意愿研究

随着云计算的不断发展,云企业信息系统(EIS)显示出其优势,愈来愈多企业愿意考虑从传统EIS转换到云EIS系统。然而,却很少研究探讨企业在EIS的转换议题,本研究整合信息系统成功模型和技术接受模型,发展一个多理论框架去探索企业向云ERP转换的意愿。我们从企业管理者收集了199份调查问卷,通过结构方程模型验证本研究模型与假设,结果发现有用性和易用性是影响转换意愿重要因素,易用性、信息质量和系统质量则正向影响认知有用性,这些结论,给未来转换意愿研究提供了参考,我们建议云服务供应商应重视系统本身的易用性和有用性,提高系统质量并关注信息质量,以帮助他们提供企业需求的产品,吸引更多企业从传统EIS转换到云EIS。     

核能公众接受性:研究图景、理论框架与展望

核能的公众接受性是一个快速发展的交叉研究课题,也是风险认知学科最具代表性的研究主题之一。当前国内学界在该领域仍处于探索阶段,理论水平和研究方法相对落后于国际学术前沿,迫切需要展开深入研究。文章以中、英文权威科学索引收录的期刊论文为对象,使用理论综述的方法展开综合研究,以期为核能公众性研究发展提供理论支撑和方向预判。文章首先对核能公众接受性研究构建一幅整体图景,接着对这一领域的中外文献进行归纳和整理,将现有理论成果整合成一个理论框架。在此基础上,对当前研究存在的不足进行了反思,指出未来的核能公众接受性研究应将宏微观跨层互动与文化视角纳入分析,加强跨学科领域的理论对话,以及引入更为有效的研究方法并提高数据质量。     

Online social viewing: Cross-cultural adoption and uses of bullet-screen videos

ABSTRACT

Bullet-screen technology, an innovative way of interacting with online videos, allows viewers to contribute comments that simultaneously appear over videos. Popular in East Asia, the technology is making its way to American audiences. This study employed a comparative qualitative focus group approach to explore how American and Chinese viewers responded to and interacted with this new format of online videos. Three themes emerge from this investigation: (1) the unique affordances of this technology; (2) barriers to adoption and usage; and (3) cultural differences that impact the user experience. The theoretical and practical implications for bullet-screen technologies are discussed.
