Two models for preventing students with special needs from dropping out of education in Finland

Numerous studies have shown that pupils with special needs are at high risk of dropping out and leaving school without finishing their studies, in particular, in postcompulsory schooling. While the great majority of the age group will obtain at least secondary education, the lack of education may serve as a step towards deepening social exclusion. This study presents follow-up results from two programmes working to prevent educational exclusion in Finland. These programmes were selected because they work in association with the comprehensive school system. The results show that the participants' own experiences of the benefits of the models are extremely positive. However, there are statistically significant differences between the post-intervention status of young people from the Creating Your Own Career project and the 10th-form students, and between males and females, when transition to further education and working life is used as the criterion.     

Scaffolding Science Teachers in Open‐inquiry Teaching

The present study deals with a school‐based professional development trajectory for secondary science teachers, aiming at scaffolding teachers in open‐inquiry teaching for the topic of water quality. Its design was based on the leading principle of ‘guiding by scaffolding’. Seven experienced teachers participated in institutional meetings and teaching at school. The research focused on designing scaffolding tools, addressing these tools in the meetings, and implementing them in the classroom. The main research data were obtained from meetings, classroom discussions, and observations. The results indicated that the professional development trajectory has promoted teachers’ learning of scaffolding students in open inquiry, especially the ability to know when and how to give students a well‐balanced combination of ‘structure’ for open‐inquiry learning and sufficient ‘space’ for that. The implications for science teacher education are discussed.     

The Relationship between Students' Connections to Out‐of‐School Experiences and Factors Associated with Science Learning

This study examined the relationship between students' out‐of‐school experiences and various factors associated with science learning. Participants were 1,014 students from two urban high schools (secondary schools). They completed a survey questionnaire and science assessment describing their science learning experiences across contexts and science understanding. Using multilevel statistical modelling, accounting for the multilevel structure of the data with students (Level 1) assigned to teachers (Level 2), the results indicated that controlling for student and classroom factors, students' ability to make connections between in‐school and out‐of‐school science experiences was associated with positive learning outcomes such as achievement, interest in science, careers in science, self‐efficacy, perseverance, and effort in learning science. Teacher practice connecting to students' out‐of‐school experiences was negatively associated with student achievement but has no association with other outcome measures. The mixed results found in this study alert us to issues and opportunities concerning the integration of students' out‐of‐school experiences to classroom instruction, and ultimately improving our understanding of science learning across contexts.

RTK技术在地质放样中的应用

本文基于笔者多年从事地质勘探测量的相关工作经验,以RTK在地质勘探中的应用为研究对象,利用RTK技术在地质勘探中进行放样测量,给出放样流程,并将所得到的结果与利用全站仪所测得的结果进行对比。通过实际测量发现,利用该技术能快速、精确地进行坐标放样。且在RTK信号受屏蔽的地区可利用RTK配合全站仅测定其它各点的坐标及高程。相信本文对从事相关工作的同行有着重要的参考价值和借鉴意义。     

河南省综合性高校体育院系学生非专业选修课的情况调查

通过问卷调查和数理统计等方法,对河南省部分综合性高校体育院系学生非专业选修课的情况进行了调查研究.统计分析结果表明:有相当部分的学生非专业选修学习时仅满足于获得学分,有悖于学校开设非专业选修课的初衷;通过因子归纳分析得出影响体育院系学生非专业选修的影响因素主要由个人动因影响、学分影响、课程实效影响、课程设置影响、交友影响和教师影响等因子组成.     

论《生死疲劳》对传统文化的承续与超越

《生死疲劳》是莫言继《檀香刑》后向传统文化致敬的又一力作。他立足自身的成长经历,借助章回体的创作形式直接对话滋养其灵魂的中国古典小说,通过主人公西门闹的生死轮回传达了对传统宗教戒律的审视。童心盎然、思想叛逆的莫言还将历史与现代相结合,成功从传统的人物形象塑造方式中突围,塑造出亦真亦假的小说家“莫言”,实现了对传统文化的承袭与超越。     

师范类小学教育专业升本后的挑战与出路

就全国总体而言,小学教师培养已由过去的中师学校培养转为今天大学的一个专业(小学教育专业)进行培养。小学教育专业升本后的十余年里,中师情节一直缠绕着我们。需要厘清小学教师培养在中师期间的学校办学与大学期间的学院办学之间的利弊关系,正视小学教育专业升本后面临的挑战,通过用大学精神与文化培养具有独立思考与研究能力的高学历小学教师,扩大专业师资队伍以及利用小学教育专业与基础教育联系密切的优势,加强基础教育研究等方式找寻出路。
