评价理论中的态度系统与小说语篇解读——以《印度之行》为语料

在系统功能语言学的评价理论框架下,态度系统与人际意义的表达和阐释是密不可分的,评价在人际意义扩展模式中更注重的是语义的东西,但语义的理解又离不开词汇资源,评价研究中的态度系统正是关注一些表达评价的词语。本文以英国著名小说家爱德华.摩根.福斯特的小说《印度之行》为语料,通过评价理论的态度系统解读小说篇章,说明篇章理解需要依靠词汇语境资源,并得出词汇作为衔接手段对小说语篇连贯的表达既是语言层面的也是心理层面的,从而进一步揭示态度系统对小说篇章理解的有效性和意义。     

《啼笑因缘》的接受研究

从20世纪二三十年代到21世纪初张恨水小说《啼笑因缘》产生的三次热门效应,说明文学作品是一个不断被读者理解、认识和接受的过程,其主要原因在于：读者期待视野的变化,作品本身具有不断被发掘的“潜藏意义”,以及文学史观念和传播方式等社会接受的因素的变化。     

略论刘文典的学术思想

分析了刘文典整体学术思想与学术贡献,将其学术思想的主要观点概括为4个方面：①重视实证,“一字之微,徵及万卷”;②主张学术救国,研究应该经世致用;③主张中西学术互相沟通;④在学术发展上刘文典坚决支持“百家争鸣”.认为他的学术理念和学术实践是中国学术史上的一笔宝贵财富.     

Public speaking procrastination as a correlate of public speaking communication apprehension and self‐perceived public speaking competence

In the present study, the relationship between public speaking procrastination and communication apprehension, and the relationship between public speaking procrastination and self‐perceived public speaking competence were investigated. A significant, positive correlation was found between public speaking procrastination and communication apprehension. A significant, negative correlation was found between public speaking procrastination and self‐perceived public speaking competence. The implications of public speaking procrastination for students and their instructors are discussed along with “anti‐procrastination “ pedagogical strategies.

Examining Housing Policy: A Select Annotated Bibliography of Housing Policy–Focused Periodicals

A bibliography of resources focused on housing policy is presented. The bibliography is broken up into two sets, a set of publications focusing on housing policy in the United States and a set focused on housing policy at a multi- or international level. Each entry is detailed with the same categories of information, where applicable. Useful online housing policy resources (organizations, data sets) are provided as well.

As the location and creation of knowledge become democratized and decentralized, libraries and librarians are rethinking their relationships with the communities they serve and the knowledge they help preserve and produce. This article is about the implications of that transformation.     

International developments: Educational and informational needs of public library users in Nigeria

The purpose of this paper is to examine the educational and informational needs of public library users in Nigeria. The data was obtained from the answers to an inquiry form handed to persons entering the library during a typical six days of operation in seven public libraries in Nigeria. It was discovered that a large number of users used the library as “study hall” (69.1 percent) and seek library materials for their school work (72.3 percent). It is recommended that public libraries should gear their collections to the needs of the people. Focused collection rather than balanced collection is recommended. Normal library functions should be expanded to include education, literacy, and health care.     

The Role of Professional Associations in Organization Change: Toward User-Centeredness

The title of this volume suggests that academic and research libraries should adopt a more "user-centered" approach in response to environmental trends and proposes a need for organizational change to arrive at a user-centered state. Other papers in the volume address specific trends and the responses—current or envisioned—of the library in an institution of higher education. This paper addresses the role of professional associations in the process of organizational change. It accepts as a given the assertion that organizational change is necessary and that user-centeredness is a desirable characteristic of libraries, of higher education institutions, and of associations.     

Library Learning Spaces: Investigating Libraries and Investing in Student Feedback

ABSTRACT

We examine how students in academic libraries work; their furniture, technology and space needs; research methods used to determine these; and the results and evolution of our space design and assessment efforts. From the creation of a new collaborative center at Mann Library at Cornell University in 2007 to our latest space redesign in 2015, we've used a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods—including surveys, interviews, usability tests, and participatory design exercises—to discover the study behaviors and needs of users, applied this data to help redesign our collaborative study spaces, and assessed the results.
