Abstract

This study examines differences between university students and permanent residents of an Appalachian community in their attitudes toward the environment and toward proposed local energy related developments. Survey data showed that townspeople (non-student residents) were somewhat more supportive of the proposed energy developments than were students, however students were typified more by detachment from the issues than by opposition to them. It is suggested that differences between students and townspeople in support for local energy developments is not due to environmental attitudes but may be due to economic ties to the local area.     

An Analysis of the Predictive Validity of the New Ecological Paradigm Scale

Abstract

The widely used New Environmental Paradigm (NEP) scale was recently revised to address concerns about its dimensionality and validity. As an ever larger number of researchers from an increasing variety of disciplines incorporate environmental issues into their research, the need for environmental concern measures such as the NEP will broaden. The authors evaluated the predictive validity of the original and revised versions of the NEP scale, some abbreviated NEP-derived scales, and a non-NEP environmental attitudes scale. All of these scales explained a significant amount of the variance in a measure of intention to engage in proenvi-ronmental behavior. Based on the results, the authors suggest how researchers should use these scales in their research.     

Exploring the Use of the Revised New Ecological Paradigm Scale (NEP) to Monitor the Development of Students’ Ecological Worldviews

Higher education institutions are interested in the impact that they and concurrent life experiences may have on students’ sustainability attitudes, but they lack formal processes to monitor changes. We used the NEP to monitor changes in students’ ecological worldviews. We were interested in what variation there would be in a multidisciplinary group, if the NEP could detect changes in students’ ecological worldviews over a limited time period, and to learn more about the NEP and its use. We conclude that the NEP is a valuable research instrument for this study and that monitoring students’ attitudes is a worthwhile precursor to debating the issues institutionally.     

Exploring the New Ecological Paradigm Scale for Gauging Children's Environmental Attitudes in China

A Chinese version of the revised NEP Scale was generated and adopted in a survey among 507 students (age 10 to 12 years old) from three elementary schools in Shenzhen, China. The results show an acceptable level of internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = .65) but some abnormalities on the modified NEP scale: items 1 and 7 presented very low item-total correlations (≤.10); factor analysis generated five unclearly-patterned factors. The abnormalities on the modified scale, in light of a focus group interview during item modification stage, are partially attributed to some fundamental problems on the original revised NEP Scale per se on one hand, and may be partially understood as cultural differences in interpreting statements on the scale between China and Western nations on the other.

从方法论角度看编辑学研究

本文从科学方法论的角度指出,作为研究编辑活动的编辑学有着成为一门科学的条件,但目前仍未形成自己的“范式”,即仍处于前科学时期。编辑学有二种研究:编辑学的描述性研究与编辑学的规范性研究;目前我们应从多种角度进行编辑学研究,从而使之成为成熟的科学。

在教育改革的背景下，美国原有教师专业发展模式已不能满足需要，需从根本上进行变革。实践的需求促使了美国教师专业发展范式的转换。新范式具有六个显著特点和三个起支撑作用的问题。它对确立我国合理的教师专业形象，实施教师资格证书制度及新一轮课程改革下的教师培训有一定的启示。     

基于SCP模型分析中国旅行社普遍采取价格竞争的成因

进入21世纪以来,从宏观上看,我国旅游业的产业体系和市场规模增长迅速,而从微观层面上看,旅行社行业作为旅游业的重要行业,却在企业数量和总收入增加的同时,全行业总利润和利润率却逐年下降。出现这种状况,行业内单一的价格竞争无疑是重要原因之一。而近年来的研究成果以及旅行社经营者在削价竞争中的失败经验,都已经让大多数的旅行社经营者明白单一的价格竞争,对于提高企业利润是低效率甚至是无效的,对于企业的长远发展也是十分不利的,但是为什么现在大多数的旅行社还是将价格竞争作为其唯一的市场竞争行为呢?本文以SCP模型为基础,通过市场结构以及市场绩效等方面的因素对市场行为的影响,分析了我国旅行社普遍采取价格竞争的内在原因。     

心理学的分裂与统一研究述评

国内外关于心理学分裂与统一的研究已取得不少成果。心理学的危机在于没有确立与人的特性相适应的研究范式。心理学的发展历程已呈现出主客二分和主客同一两种研究范式,相应的有外观心理学和内观心理学两种心理学,心理学危机的摆脱在于构筑一种建基于完善人性的整合视野。
