外宣材料英译中的"加减法"

随着中国对外开放的进一步深入,对外宣传报道材料的英译越来越重要。但对这类文本的汉英翻译不同于纯粹的汉英翻译,译者要把宣传效果放在第一位。译者在进行此类翻译时要照顾译文读者对我们的宣传报道的接受性,灵活运用增译和减译的翻译方法,搬掉影响读者阅读的绊脚石,从而保证我们的对外宣传效果。本文作者就如何应用这些翻译方法提出了自己的见解。     

(Trans)lating Identity: Exploring Discursive Strategies for Navigating the Tensions of Identity Gaps

This study explored the formation and expression of gender identity among 19 self-identified transgender individuals through the use of qualitative, in-depth interviews. Through the lens of the Communication Theory of Identity (CTI), we examined how trans* individuals form and perform gender identity, the tensions produced between identity frames, and the discursive strategies used to navigate those tensions. We identified the manifestation of three specific identity gaps: personal-enacted, personal-relational, and enacted-relational. Furthermore, we discovered four discursive strategies previously recognized for navigating tensions that emerge from identity gaps: closeted enactment, passing, disengagement, and label changing, and we identified a fifth discursive strategy—hyper-engagement—used to navigate these tensions. Results revealed that these identity layers and discursive strategies collaboratively manifest and coalesce in response to specific communicative contexts. Our results are discussed within the resounding call for greater understanding of trans* identity formation and expression.

危机传播中地方媒体的角色、功能与策略

地方媒体作为社会的"守望者"、"监督者"以及沟通政府与公众的重要桥梁,其对与公共利益紧密相关的重大决策信息传播的缺席常常是导致危机发生的重要原因之一。因此,从危机传播视角出发,负责任的地方媒体在危机传播中应以价值定位取代功能性定位,明确自身作为社会监测者的基本角色,履行好危机传播中揭示危机真相和进行公民教育的传播功能。在传媒所受体制性束缚一时难以改变的情况下,地方媒体危机传播功能的实现要靠"打时间差"、"边缘突破"、"协同作战"等策略性实践手段来实现。     

Characteristics of electricity consumption of different industry types considering atmospheric condition

Reducing greenhouse gases (RHG) is going on actively in the international movement. In the field of architecture, RHG is an inevitable work. To establish a plan for RHG, firstly we need to reduce energy consumption. Greenhouse gas generated by energy consumption is the main cause of global warming. For this we should know that how much electricity consumption we use. The research targets of this study are commercial buildings with various businesses. Their electricity consumption was analyzed by business units rather than buildings. Each business was divided into 13 sectors according to industrial classification and electricity consumption was analyzed for each industry. For commercial buildings, the electricity consumption is done by the private sector and construction management is an autonomy system in private instead of an integrated management system. In this study, we classified and analyzed the electricity consumption characteristics according to collected data, analyzed the relationship between the electricity consumption with atmospheric temperature through SPSS, and developed an electricity prediction model.     

Feasibility study of the calm baby gently program: An educational baby book intervention on safe practices related to infant crying

BackgroundAbusive head trauma (AHT) is a preventable form of child abuse.ObjectiveThis project used a mixed method design to assess the feasibility of the Calm Baby Gently educational baby book intervention for promoting safe practices related to infant crying in an effort to prevent AHT.Participants and settingThree pediatric practices participated between June 2016 and January 2018, including 1045 caregivers who attended their infant’s 2-month well-child visit.MethodsPediatric providers gave the educational baby book to caregivers at the 1-month well-child visit. Caregivers completed a survey at the 2-month well-child visit on their use and satisfaction with the book and responses to infant crying. Thematic analysis of qualitative feedback was performed. Responses to infant crying were compared quantitatively between caregivers who had and had not read the book.ResultsOf the 819 caregivers (78%) who received the book, 92% (754) read it, and 51% (421) had another caregiver read it. Caregivers considered the book approachable, understandable, validating, and helpful for improving knowledge and skills related to infant crying. The book was rated more helpful by caregivers of younger age, male gender, and non-white race. Controlling for age, gender, and race, caregivers who read the book were more confident (p = 0.033) and had more knowledge on how to respond appropriately to infant crying (p = 0.019) than caregivers who had not read it.ConclusionsCalm Baby Gently is a feasible and well-received AHT prevention program. Randomized controlled trials are needed to better understand its impact on knowledge, behavior, and AHT rates.
