Bridging identities through religious television contents: Javanese female descendants,Islamic viewing and Malay identity projection

This study explores the uses of Islamic television content in bridging the gap between Javanese and Malay identity among the Malay women of Javanese descent in Malaysia. Malaysian religious television programmes have constantly promoted the Islamic identifications of Malayness, enabling the Malay audience to reconstruct the culturally religious identity. While the reconstruction of Islamic identity through television viewing simply represents a lived experience for the majority of the Malay society, it has some cultural meanings for certain Malay sub-ethnic communities, such as the Javanese. This ethnographic study on a Malaysian Javanese community reveals that the interpretive engagement of this particular community in Islamic television viewing serves the purpose of negotiating Malay identity. The results of this study suggest that religious content can serve as an engaging platform to construct multi-ethnic identities beside popular and ethnic-related contents.     

The Influence of Media Type on the Perceived Influence of Media Contents and on the Support to Restrict Controversial Messages

The aim of this study was to explore the intersection between Medium Theory (MT) and Third-Person Effect (TPE) and evaluate how the research on MT can further our knowledge of the TPE. The study has proven that the perceptual hypothesis of the TPE is confirmed in different media contents and across media types (TV and the Internet) and that media type has an impact on the magnitude of the TPE. In addition, media type can also be a requisite for TPE to occur. On the other hand, the study shows that media type can have an influence on people’s support to restrict controversial content, in particular, pornography.

Our analysis of Anglo American, Native American, and Hispanic adolescents confirms several predictions derived from a cognitive‐functional theory of television's socialization effects. The major predictions that learning and functionality evaluations of observed values lead to acceptance were supported for each of the three ethnic groups. As the theory predicts, adolescents accepted values observed in television when they recognized them (a measure of learning) and when they evaluated the values to be important in “being successful” in the United States (a measure of functionality). Perceived realism of television and total television exposure did not predict value acceptance.

建构主义学习观认为,信息时代的学习必须从机械的被动接受转向有意义的主动建构。教育电视如何在这种变革中契合新的学习诉求?这是一个非常值得探讨的课题。文章从教学应用方式视角切入,在深入剖析信息时代教育电视作为教育传播媒介所面临的发展困境之后,对症下药地提出了"基于视频创作的可视化学习"这一新的应用视角。     

Cultural Diversity and Australian Commercial Television Drama: Policy,Industry and Recent Research Contexts

Media studies research in the 1990s illustrated an incongruity between cultural diversity in the Australian community and the representation of that diversity on commercial television screens. Australian drama in particular received much criticism for its seemingly 'Anglo' portrayal of Australian society. Most of this former research was based on program content analysis and critical approaches to studying the media. From the mid-1990s, anecdotal evidence suggested an improvement in the casting of actors from culturally diverse backgrounds. This paper contextualises policy and industry developments in the 1990s related to cultural diversity and presents new research undertaken within the commercial television drama industry. In order to determine the status of cultural diversity and commercial television drama at the end of the 1990s, a casting survey of all Australian commercial drama programs broadcast in 1999 was carried out. This was complemented by interviews with industry personnel and a two-week content analysis of programming. The research establishes the degree of casting for actors from culturally diverse backgrounds and offers explanations for both improvements made over the previous years and the continuing obstacles faced by some groups in gaining a place in our popular drama programs.     

不同负荷对高原短跑运动员部分免疫细胞的影响研究

文章对云南省短跑男子运动员10人(国家一级2人,二级8人)进行不同的运动负荷实验后,研究高原短跑运动员在运动训练过程中部分免疫细胞的变化情况及生化机理。结论认为:血常规中的中性粒细胞和淋巴细胞的含量可以反映短跑运动训练负荷强度的大小和训练后的恢复状况,能起到重要的监控作用。
