Mathematical skills are essential for young people to attain academic results needed for further study and employment. Recent changes to the English National Curriculum have put an increased emphasis on pupils explaining the reasoning behind answers in maths. This is a skill that can be developed by improving metacognitive skills. The authors report on an in-class programme for small group work, based on prior studies that utilised metacognition to support maths. An evaluation was conducted including a focus group interview and observation, modelling and feedback sessions over approximately 10 weeks. Results from interview analysis showed a positive impact both on staff practice and pupils’ independent problem solving. Adaptations based on research findings were made to the programme and handbook. This programme represents a flexible, inclusive and low resource option for schools to address new challenges posed by the National Curriculum in times of budget cuts and increased time pressure.  相似文献

Seven years of industrial experience followed by 30 years of academic research and teaching in structural engineering have led the author to believe that the prime objective of a university design course is not the design project itself but to train students to solve problems, as this will last them throughout their careers. It is shown how design projects can be formulated for the purpose of encouraging students to develop their problem-solving abilities. More importantly, a sequential assessment technique has been developed to quantify the students’ ability to both think and learn as well as the students’ grasp of the fundamental principles, all of which are required in problem-solving.  相似文献

The present study based on Antonietti, A., Ignazi, S., & Perego, P. (2000). Metacognitive knowledge about problem-solving methods. British Journal of Educational Psychology, 70, 1–16 methodology with the aim to examine primary school teachers' metacognitive knowledge about problem-solving strategies. A sample of 338 in-service (172) and pre-service (166) teachers participated in the study. They were asked to give on a five-point scale frequency, efficacy, and facility estimates for the application of five problem-solving strategies in 3 kinds of problems (interpersonal, practical, and study problems). The results are in accordance with Antonietti, A., Ignazi, S., & Perego, P. (2000). Metacognitive knowledge about problem-solving methods. “问题解决”是一个被多学科领域所重视和研究的课题。教学中发现,学生在解遗传题时,习惯于运用数理逻辑推理,却容易忽视减数分裂与遗传规律的联系。根据奥苏伯尔的观点,这有悖于有意义学习的目的。为此,本研究着重探讨:通过问题解决教学策略的实施,能否促进学生对于减数分裂与遗传规律关系的理解,从而实现有意义的学习。研究结果表明,问题解决教学策略可以促进学生的有意义学习,其基本过程可以概括为:创设问题情境→拓宽问题空间→进行合作学习→完成知识迁移。  相似文献

职业教育国际化是我国教育对外开放的重要组成部分。"一带一路”倡议下我国不断探索职业教育国际化发展新对策,鲁班工坊便是其一。作为天津市服务职业教育国际化发展的重要举措,鲁班工坊有效为合作国家培养了适应当地经济社会发展需要的技术技能人才,有力促进了我国职业教育国际化进程的进一步发展,并取得了一定成效。同时,文章通过文献研究法、实证研究法发现其自身发展存在建设规模不足、资金来源单一、外联渠道单薄三点问题,并提出三点解决对策:依托五方携手、五业联动,扩大鲁班工坊数量;扩展渠道、引流资金,确保源源内生动力;以政府为主导,搭建双边、多边外联通道。  相似文献

Fostering pupils’ competencies in inventive thinking and problem-solving has remained a rather unresolved issue in traditional schooling, mainly because many people regard creative thinking as a God-given ability, something an individual either possesses or does not possess, but can only be slightly learned or improved. The current study is aimed at evaluating the impact of teaching pupils problem-solving principles based on the ‘idea focusing’ concept, rather than the ‘idea generating’ approach through random search or brainstorming. Data included pre- and post-course quizzes, interviews and observations of class activities. The finding indicated that the participants significantly improved their achievements in suggesting original solutions to problems in comparison to a control group, and successfully utilized the method they had learned in their final project. Some pupils reported that they used the thinking patterns they had procured during the course in other contexts as well, for example, in school or at home. These results suggest that there is benefit in teaching pupils methods for focused thinking in problem-solving; these methods, however, should be regarded as a kind of heuristics that can help guide the thinking process rather than being used as strict algorithms. The important point is to provide pupils with opportunities to develop their own thinking methods and explain their ideas.  相似文献
