Access to scholarly information in the disciplines of education and medicine occurred primarily through the simultaneous development of two bibliographic databases. The Education Resource Information Center (ERIC) originated as a resource designed to be comprehensive in its inclusion of peer-reviewed and unpublished literature for the entire education community. MEDLINE began as a resource of selective materials for physicians and researchers. Today, ERIC includes selected peer-reviewed literature directed primarily to researchers and practitioners, although others use the database, while MEDLINE is a vast information system serving all health professionals and consumers. This literature analysis of their policy history shows important differences in their evolution. Application of the Multiple Streams Framework can help in formulating possible explanations for the different developmental paths. These paths include: the degree of centralization or decentralization of the information system's organizational structure; the stability of the organizational mission; and the success of assessment strategies, federal budgetary support, and bias toward science in federal policy-making. These two government-supported databases served as models for a plethora of other databases. However, one was successful in acquiring funding from the outset, while the other continually suffered deficiencies in support. The importance of each to public welfare should have been obvious, but was not.  相似文献

Education reform towards a whole school approach to catering for diversity within Hong Kong government schools has seen the initiation of several strategies to support mainstream schools in this transition. One of these approaches is the use of a resource school model. Special and mainstream schools in Hong Kong are being invited to establish themselves as resource support hubs for partner mainstream schools. This paper investigates how this model is being implemented by considering one of each type of resource school. Three broad themes have emerged that relate to the type of support being offered and sought: the school ethos and culture of the partner schools; and management issues. The effectiveness of a resource model is evaluated for its use in Hong Kong.  相似文献

The paper details the findings of a study which focused on the analysis of the cultural representation of disability in school textbooks in Iran and England. The paper argues that whilst inclusive education could facilitate the incorporating of disabled pupils into mainstream schools, there needs to be deeper examination as to how this transition should take place for children aged 3–13. The paper suggests that in such examinations, school textbooks might be of significance in familiarising non-disabled pupils, teachers and authorities with the issues related to disability and disabled pupils.  相似文献

An important goal of any sexuality education program is to support youth and young adults to develop a positive self-image and develop competence and confidence in skills needed to express sexuality and develop positive relationships. For youth and young adults with disabilities, sexuality education is offered far less often than for their same aged peers without disabilities. 科学合理的教学评价是实施课程改革的关键之一。以《大学英语教学课程要求(修订版)》关于教学评价的基本要求为指导,探讨大学英语多元教学评价的理论基础和基本原则,并在此基础上构建了多元教学评价体系的主要内容。与传统的教学评价不同,多元教学评价强调评价与教学的协调统一,评价内容更加全面丰富,评价主体与客体呈现一致性,评价方式更加灵活多样,有利于促进学生的学习过程与全面发展。  相似文献

目前我国大学的英语考试大都采用了多项选择题,且大至全国性的统考,小至学校一门课程的期末考试,多项选择题在试题中所占的比重可以高达85%。这种形式的考试还被冠以“标准化考试”、“是客观题”,并认为具有“阅卷省事”等特点,导致人们对此类试题产生不客观、不全面的认识。实践证明,此类试题的缺点和负面作用是客观存在的,在某种意义上还十分严重。因此,恰如其分地评价多项选择题,这对大学英语考试的正确导向、对英语人才的培养意义重大。  相似文献
