Social media opinion summarization using emotion cognition and convolutional neural networks

Quickly and accurately summarizing representative opinions is a key step for assessing microblog sentiments. The Ortony-Clore-Collins (OCC) model of emotion can offer a rule-based emotion export mechanism. In this paper, we propose an OCC model and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) based opinion summarization method for Chinese microblogging systems. We test the proposed method using real world microblog data. We then compare the accuracy of manual sentiment annotation to the accuracy using our OCC-based sentiment classification rule library. Experimental results from analyzing three real-world microblog datasets demonstrate the efficacy of our proposed method. Our study highlights the potential of combining emotion cognition with deep learning in sentiment analysis of social media data.     

A cross‐cultural test of the association between temperament and communication apprehension

The research reported in his study was a cross‐cultural test of the communibiological model of communication apprehension as temperamental expression. The study was designed to replicate the findings reported by Beatty, McCroskey, and Heisel (1998) in the U.S. and Japan. In this study participants from Japan and the U.S. completed measures of communication apprehension, neurotitism, and extroversion. The results indicated that, for both Japanese and U.S. college students, scores on the measure of communication apprehension were significantly correlated with measures of neuroticism and extroversion. Multiple regression analyses indicated that both neuroticism and extroversion predicted unique variance in communication in both cultures and that the multiple correlations for the two cultures did not differ significantly. It was concluded that the replication was successful and that temperament scores are substantially predictive of communication apprehension across the cultures tested.

妇女拐卖的社会结构性原因分析——兼论法律控制失效下的标本兼治

通过对拐买的原因考察，发现在社会结构失衡的情况下，妇女成为商品交易对象并被社会结构左右着，这导致妇女被拐买而非正常性地流动，使法律、政府等控制失效，尤其是，当这些社会结构状态一直维持失衡的情况下，打击拐买行为只能是治标，根本的解决问题仍需从平衡社会结构这一治本开始。

运用文献资料、逻辑分析法等对制约我国农民工体育参与的因素进行 了研究。提出思想认识不足、价值取向差异、体育资源稀缺、户籍身份帝J约、 发展手段困顿以及农民工生活之无暇化等是制约我国农民工体育发展的主要因素 。     

More than Just Worksheets?: A Study of the Confidence of Newly Qualified Teachers of English in Teaching Personal, Social and Health Education in Secondary Schools

This paper addresses concerns regarding the preparedness of newly qualified teachers to deliver Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) in the United Kingdom in relation to the training received during Initial Teacher Education and through early Continuing Professional Development. The paper is situated not only within a context where OfSTED has questioned the adequacy of some non-specialist PSHE teachers but also one where, due to a range of social and health concerns centred on young people, schools and teachers are being expected to play an increasingly important role in the social and health education of their pupils. As such, PSHE is increasingly seen as important across all curriculum areas. This paper relates specifically to the confidence of trainee and newly qualified teachers of English in teaching PSHE in secondary schools in the United Kingdom. Drawing on questionnaire data collected from recent Professional Graduate Certificate in Education graduates, the paper suggests that trainee and newly qualified teachers have the skills and knowledge drawn from their main subject (English) to deliver PSHE; however, many lack confidence and awareness to acknowledge these skills. The paper suggests that this situation may be addressed through increased opportunity to deliver and receive feedback on PSHE teaching during initial teacher training.

The making of a social entrepreneur: From participant to cause champion within a sport-for-development context

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of a sport-for-development initiative, Street Soccer USA, on one of its most successful participants in order to understand her experiences, expectations, and motivations towards becoming a cause champion and social entrepreneur and continuing her activism. We adopted a narrative inquiry approach for this study in an effort to explore this topic in a detailed manner. Guided by previous literature within the field of social entrepreneurship, we found there were three specific background influences – sport, life, and traumatic experiences – which influenced her social entrepreneurial leanings. Within that context we show how the variables of people, opportunity, and capital intersect and lead towards the social value proposition of the social entrepreneur. Drawn from the findings, we provide theoretical and practical implications and directions for future research in the field of sport-for-development and social entrepreneurship.
