Publication Services at the University Library Graz: A New Venture,a New Role

ABSTRACT

Establishing Publication Services in the library at the University of Graz did more than broaden the service portfolio of the library. A convergence of expertise at the library, needs of researchers at the university, and ongoing changes in scholarly communication also contributed to the evolution of the library's role and profile. The new services offer first-level support for matters pertaining to scholarly publishing and communications. Furthermore, Publication Services has developed into a knowledge sharing platform, extending beyond the library to other administrative departments and creating a community of practice.     

New Directions for Academic Libraries in Research Staffing: A Case Study at National University of Ireland Galway

ABSTRACT

New research needs, global developments and local shifts in emphasis are demanding a broader range of interactions by librarians with researchers and are challenging previous staffing structures. Research has a higher institutional profile and academic libraries have responded by creating new roles and staffing models, with stronger linkage across campus as partners rather than supporters. Particular circumstances at National University of Ireland Galway have shaped its Library's staffing configuration for research. These include the emergence of digital scholarship across campus, opportunities offered by a new research building, the growing importance of archives and the publication of a new institutional strategy. Significant reductions in staffing and budget are influential too. Distinctive features in the revised staffing model are organization by function instead of subject, prioritization of engagement with digital scholarship, distributed management of archives and special collections, and a particular emphasis on contribution across multiple teams. This case study reports early gains and challenges.     

The role of a local newspaper after disaster: an intrinsic case study of Ishinomaki,Japan

The city of Ishinomaki in Miyagi prefecture was devastated by the tsunami that struck Japan’s North East Coast on 11 March 2011. Drawing on fieldwork conducted in Ishinomaki, which included interviews with senior journalists from the city’s two local newspapers, the Ishinomaki Hibi Shimbun and the Ishinomaki Kahoku, this paper presents an intrinsic case study of the role a local newspaper in Ishinomaki after the Great East Japan Disaster. The evidence reveals that in the immediate aftermath of the tsunami journalists recognised how their newspaper could serve the immediate information-needs of the local community by providing essential lifeline information, describing a duty to report, despite the operational difficulties that their newspapers faced. In the longer term recovery phase, interviewees acknowledged how their newspapers have attempted to communicate a message of hope to the city and provide an alternative perspective to the national media, which sometimes gave a false impression of the state of Ishinomaki’s recovery. This paper offers some insights into journalistic role conceptions, illustrating how journalists from the two newspapers embraced the role of information-disseminator after the disaster, and also identifies avenues for further research.     

媒介角色理论视域下技术间关联关系研究——以电子信息领域的高影响力论文为例

[目的/意义]打破聚类分析法关系分析的固有模式,从关键词共现网络的结构出发,探讨关键词网络位置对技术间关联关系的影响。[方法/过程]基于ESI数据库2017年5月的更新数据,以电子信息领域的高影响力论文为研究对象,在对该领域进行宏观分析的基础上,依据结构洞和桥结构两种媒介角色理论,基于关键词共现网络分析电子信息领域内各技术的媒介角色,识别各技术之间的内在关联。[结果/结论]研究结果表明,优化研究、智能电网、功率控制、非线性系统、时间延迟、稳定性、同步技术等技术的媒介作用较重要,与多种技术存在关联,对电子信息领域的技术发展有至关重要的作用。媒介角色理论从结构角度出发,将微观的个体间关系与整个网络的宏观结构相结合的分析思路为技术间关联关系的探讨提供了新的视角。     

关于编辑在中医药事业中价值作用的思考

中医药期刊编辑工作不仅体现在栏目设计、选题策划、论文评审选择、文稿加工修改等方面,作为学术研究者和学术传承人,在凝聚人才、汇聚成果和引领学术等方面,中医药编辑也发挥着不可替代的作用.本文对编辑在中医药事业中的价值作用进行思考,并从中医药传播、保护、传承和创新/发展4个方面进行阐释.认为中医药期刊编辑要充分利用学术期刊这一文化载体,推动中医药向世界传播和发展,弘扬中医药传统文化,提高民族自信,提升中国文化软实力.     

民间组织:推进社区教育主体性发展的必然选择

民间组织是我国社会发展中一支重要的推动力量.从历史和现实相结合的角度,分析了民间组织产生发展的必然性,指出了社区民间组织在推动社区教育和社区建设中的地位和作用,提出了在社区教育中民间组织建设和管理的相关指导性意见.     

论初级汉语口语教学中的教师定位

培养学生的语言交际能力是对外汉语口语教学的根本目的。在口语能力培养的初级阶段．教师遵循“以教师为核心,以学生为中心,以学习目标为导向”的教学原则,在启蒙期、构建期、发展期分别以朋友、顾问、导演这三种不同的角色定位出现,采取有效的教学手段和方法,帮助学生实现“表达和应用”的学习目标。

论外语教师在自主学习中心中的角色定位

培养学生自主学习能力,自主学习中心扮演着重要角色。本文以自主学习理论为基础,介绍自主学习中心的功能和设施,阐述英语自主学习中心对教师的挑战以及教师在自主学习中心所扮演的角色。
