This article presents the research findings of a small-scale study which aimed to explore the cautionary attitude toward the use of Wikipedia in the process of learning. A qualitative case study approach was taken, using literature review, institutional documentation, and semi-structured interviews with five members of academic teaching staff from a UK Business School. Analysis found the reasons for the cautionary attitude were due to a lack of understanding of Wikipedia, a negative attitude toward collaborative knowledge produced outside academia, and the perceived detrimental effects of the use of Web 2.0 applications not included in the university suite.  相似文献

Adam Bly, founder and director of Seed Media Group, describes the potential of science to improve the state of the world. But for the potential of science to be realized, it must be integrated into society after two preconditions have been met: science literacy must be aimed at creating seven billion scientifically literate people, and we must move from closed to open science. For the first, society needs to change the way it engages with science; engaging through culture and ideas has been a goal of Seed Media Group. For the second, there must be a mandated free flow of information; peer review must be reinvented; and scientific publishing needs to be removed from the hands of publishers and put in the hands of society.  相似文献

In this review, we explore the notion of teaching science to English language learners (ELLs) as a balancing act between simultaneously focusing on language and content development, on the one hand, and between structuring instruction and focusing on student learning processes, on the other hand. This exploration is conducted through the lens of a theoretical framework embedded in the Science Writing Heuristic approach, an approach exemplifying immersive orientation to argument-based inquiry. Three learning processes (learning through the language of science, learning about the language of science and living the language of science) and three classroom structures (collective zone of proximal development, symmetric power and trust relationships and teacher as decision-maker) are explored in relation to learning theories and empirical findings from second language acquisition and science, multicultural and teacher education bodies of work. Three themes – negotiation, embeddedness and non-threatening learning environments – to inform ELL science education emerged from the review.  相似文献

This article, which is speculative in outlook and emerges from an extended literature review on this subject, takes as its basic premise the notion that the idea of ‘creativity’– whether in relation to literacy, schooling or the economy, is constructed as a series of rhetorical claims. These rhetorics of creativity emerge from the contexts of research, theory, policy and practice. Initially, we distinguish 10 rhetorics, which are described in relation to the philosophical or political traditions from which they spring. The discussion then focuses on four rhetorics – play, technology, politics/democracy and the creative classroom – which have most relevance for understandings of literacies and the way in which these are nurtured, encouraged and expressed in different social settings. This article aims to summarise the rhetorics and their major concerns, while considering how selected ones might apply to an instance of media literacy. Key questions addressed in this article ask whether creativity is more usefully understood as an internal cognitive function or an external cultural phenomenon; whether it is a ubiquitous human activity or a special faculty; whether it is necessarily ‘pro‐social’ or should be dissident; and what the implications of a culturalist social psychological approach to creativity might be for analyses of the media literacy of children and young people.  相似文献

STEAM教育在国内正风起云涌,各类STEAM课程正在如火如荼地进行中,但是国内各学校保证STEAM教育有效实施的教师相对缺乏,师资力量供不应求。为推进STEAM教育的持续与系统化建设,需要建设专业教师队伍,这要求教师具备相应的能力素养。通过文献研究法归纳出STEAM教育视角下的教师素养,包括迁移与整合知识技能、组织与协调科研、弘扬与贯彻立德树人、过程化的教育评价等素养,进而提出规范指导规划、组织岗前培训、开展校企合作等路径,以提高教师能力素养,为STEAM师资建设提供理论依据。  相似文献
